About
Santee National Golf Club possesses all of the charms of the Carolina Lowcountry but it is also nicely contrasted with highland terrain. The course sprawls across rolling hills covered with moss-draped live oaks that demand accuracy. Both the scenery and the challenges continue with pristine white sand bunkers that stand out against the lush greens. There are also five sparkling lakes throughout that come into play on several holes. The front nine is wide open but the course narrows as you move onto the back nine and it also becomes more wooded. It is a tough golf course but more forgiving than it seems. As the only Golf Digest 4-star rated course in the area, Santee National has a longstanding reputation with locals and it is also popular with visitors.

Excellent Value/Beautiful Course
Santee Nation is a hidden gem of a golf course. About an hour from Charleston SC, the course offers
a combination of dog leg left and right holes, so all aspects of your game come in play. The fairways are in excellent shape and the greens run true. I have a 15 handicap and have no problem shooting in the mid 80's. In short, the course is a blast to play, and I make it a part of my Charleston golf rotation.
Perfect Course-Perfect Weather
Somewhat challenging with the fast but true greens.
Weather and pace of play were perfect. Really enjoyed the round.

Greatest little course I run into in years!
Buying large most of the grains are in great shape the fairways in great shape. The cramps or a little hard but it'd be a good golfer you should avoid the traps. Definitely recommend anybody passing through Santee South Carolina to try this course.!

Mixed Bag
Fairway grass was generally too high due to reseeding, deferred mowing and ongoing seasonal maintenance. Greens were in good shape and ran true. There was quite a bit of standing water in fairways which I could only imagine was due to heavy watering as there has been little rain lately. Course is well designed and picturesque. A better review would likely be warranted under normal circumstances..

Decent but some amenities needed
Decent course, some wet spots, folks in the clubhouse were good.
Had a hot deal for $35, better price point than standard rate $64 or so.

Turtle crawl
Pace of play was TERRIBLE!! 5+ hours for 18 holes in the afternoon. Cart paths are not great either! Disappointed. We have played here before over a year ago and don’t remember it being such a lousy experience!

Fairways were over seeded. Despite reduction in cart use round was surprisingly pleasant! Course layout is as challenging as you want playing the appropriate tee box. Bunkers and traps were in great shape and manicured. Greens mildly undulating but green speed was appropriate and allowed for a challenge if you were in the wrong position. pace of play was less than 4 hours. The staff were friendly and exceedingly helpful. Overall, a pleasant surprise! this was a Golf now search while passing through on the way to Hilton Head

The course was in good condition and pace of play for as crowded as the course was was great
My only complaint would be is the golf course should pair up doubles As a foursome we played 18 holes in less than 4hours and felt chased by the twosomes who were behind us If the golf course wasn't crowded this would not be an issue but they had no where to go

SLOWEST PLAY EVER
5 minute wait between every single shot, over 5 hours to play 18 holes. Many courses "overbook" and causes slow play, I suspect the same here. We have played here Mon-Thurs without delays.

Great course, everything is well maintained minus cart paths
Just moved down from Illinois and I’ve played this course 3 times in the last week. The lay out is gorgeous, the entire playing course is in great shape. The only negative is the cart paths are terrible. Very broken up and bumpy. Besides that, greens are perfect, fairways are beautifully maintained, tee boxes are in good shape. Even the roughs are well maimed (still roughs though). I would recommend this course to anyone that asked. For a 27 dollar hot deal I will be coming back all the time.

Amazing shape after two days of rain
This course is always in excellent shape, but I was extremely impressed with the course after two days of hard rain.. We were worried that we'd get rained out and showed up to the course 2 hours after the rain stopped. First green had minor standing water, and after that no issues. Of course the greens were slower, but very receptive!
We play Santee National whenever we come down for a week at the lake. Always great to play. A couple of the par threes are long for us older guys, but a lot of fun.

Not worth the $
For the price you pay to play here the Pro Shop staff was snobby, and the course was meh. Personally I think Lake Marion Golf Club is a better value for the area

Very friendly staff
Loved the layout of this course. Very friendly and accommodating staff. I just wish there was a full bar and more food selection. Well worth the drive from Charleston.

Not a good value
I don’t understand how they can charge this much for a course that is mediocre at best. Shouldn’t be more than $25. The layout is decent but conditions are not really good. How this course has 4 1/2 stars is beyond me.
