About
Sterling Hills Golf Club sprawls across acres of lush countryside surrounded by avocado groves and citrus orchards. The layout winds through the verdant hills between Oxnard and Ventura. The club opened in 1999 as the only public golf course in Ventura County. The layout is player-friendly enough for beginners to still feel comfortable but it also packs a considerable amount of challenges. The versatile layout balances areas of wide-openness with target-style golf. There is contoured mounding along the fairways and some interesting elevation changes. Thanks to the hilly terrain, there is hardly a flat lie to be found. Although Sterling Hills is still relatively young, there are some mature eucalyptus trees throughout. Golfers can warm-up on the driving range, chipping area, or putting green before the game since a bucket of range balls is included with the round.

Good course!
Definitely getting value for your buck here! Each round comes with a small bucket of range balls and a lunch ticket. The course itself is improving, as it had some patchy areas a year ago. Great friendly staff. You won’t be disappointed!- Big Al

Needs work but ok.
Decent course about a 5 out of 10, I play here when I'm in CA about every 6 weeks, staff is awesome. Course needs some work but is ok. If I had 1 wish I'd want the F$*#&ing ditch on 9 to have a pipe installed and covered up, It's a dumb hazard and unnecessary. And 18 could be a nicer finish hole approach but whatever. I'll play it again of course. It's enjoyable.

Holiday round
Course was in good shape. Disappointed that there was no beverage cart service on course. When I inquired, I was told that there’s no cart service on mondays. It was a holiday weekend! Oh well.

Great layout and staff
Very friendly people at Sterling. The Layout is awesome and for a while now they have been offering a sandwich at the turn - a good sandwich.
In some locations between landing areas the grass could be a bit sparse. For the most part however, the lies are fine.
The greens can be a bit testy but due run true. Unfortunately, not all golfers fix their ball marks. Prepare to fix your own and another to help the people coming up behind you.
The pace was good. The weather was great.

Best Course for the Money!
Is this question perfect Christine condition? No but is it fun? Is it fair? Are the greens always excellent? Absolutely. I love this course just as much the people who run it. Well run golf course almost always very good piece of play Highly recommended

Blue is easy, but tips is challenging and fun
Hit my 3 wood about 240-250. Never needed a driver the whole round. Played with someone from the tips, and it was a way different course and look. For the price, great value and would absolutely play from the tips next time.

Great Course with some fantastic views....
Played this course twice in the space of 10 days. The greens had been Aerated, but this didn't spoil the Golf. The course was well manicured, some interesting holes with stunning backdrops. and the staff were more than accommodating. I would recommend this course to anyone. All in all great value for money!

It was good overall
First time here but was mostly pleased with the experience. The practice putting area was rather small and greens could use some maintenance. Layouts had a good mix of challenges but was somewhat disappointed that the greens were aerated recently and cause a lot of irregularities on the ball speed and direction. It would have been nice to have been warned ahead of time and why do you aerate on such a time that it affects play on a busy and important holiday week.
