Shaping up
Played this course for years, been through the good and bad. Seems to be under new management and getting into better shape from top to bottom. However my only gripe is pace. It’s a shorter course and the weathers beautiful so people want to play. I suppose I’ll let that factor in. Go play, just be willing to wait a few minutes on every shot.
Has come a long way
Rio has come a long way. New owners bought it I believe recently and have been really trying to restore this to the gem it used to be. Greens are rolling fast and true. New carts coming 2/1/21. At $45 this time of year you cannot beat the challenge and conditions at rio. I gave up in this track a year ago because it went to complete trash, really glad to see it the way it has been restored. Highly recommend if you have not been to rio recently or ever to give it a try.
Good layout average conditions.
Played on a beautiful day. I played as a single and caught up with another single and we played together. The gentleman I played with was a member so he helped navigate the course. Greens were very nice, smooth and rolled well. Fairways were a little sparse in areas I guess that’s to be expected in January as the Bermuda goes dormant.
Overall a nice track, not worth the full fare if you are an out of stater... if you can get a hot deal that’s the way to go.
Packed and nobody monitoring pace of play
This course is not one to play if you want to play golf and not want to take 4 hours and 45 minutes. You can see 2 holes open ahead of slow pokes who do not know there are others who do not want to sit with 2 groups on the tee box and get stiff from waiting 10 minutes or longer. When the course is filled to capacity a martial should be required to make sure a group is ready to play for the green and not just teeing off. Golfers pay money to play, so don't speed them up, let them enjoy a 5 hr round, just step aside and allow faster players to play through. I have seen 2 slow groups and the front slow group invite the group behind to play through and they say go ahead, we are fine with a 5 hr round. That is why a martial is required.
Good Layout, Fast greens
The course layout is nice. This can be a fun course if you can keep it in the fairway. The greens were quite troublesome as they would not hold approach shots and were very fast putting.
Friendly staff. Played behind a 4 some but they played to the time allotted and did not hold us up. Greens putted at a reasonably quick speed but true reads. Would definitely play here again.
Good round
Course was empty didn’t have no one within two hold of us until the back nine. Nice wide fairways and greens putted fast & straight.
Rio is worth it
Fun track. Decent shape
Clubhouse is under renovation and will be nice when done
Staff could have been a lot nicer.
Fox squirrels are reason alone to play there
Goat pasture
I can't believe they charged $40. They should have paid me $40 to play. No tee boxes, they were all temporarys. fairways too long, thought I was in the rough. Greens had weeds everywhere and extremely slow.save your money and go elsewhere.
A Bit Confusing
A map of the hole at the tee box would be helpful. There are a few confusing holes
Needs work
Course was in pretty rough shape. Staff was friendly, but disorganized.
