Pro shop

The pro shop did not tell us they were starting off 10 tee that day. As we did not see the course Marshall we asked another cart type of person if it was ok to go to the 1st tee. We did and played the front nine only to find out we should have been off#10 from the starter who we saw at the turn. He then paired us up with another twosome after a 25minute wait. In absence of pro shop info a simple sign would suffice.
However looks like they are improving the layout. But hazard markers are absent.

Not exactly what I expected.

I had an uncle who was a member several decades ago and he loved the course. It's a nice layout, but I wasn't thrilled with the fairways that were cut very close or nearly bare in spots so I often played a "Texas wedge" close to the greens. Some in my group commented that fairway shots were often like hitting off linoleum. Of course, the upside was that my drives were longer than usual. The greens were good and a bit of a challenge (which is fine). Bunkers were in good shape and raked well. I found it easier to get close to the hole out of a bunker than a short pitch or chip off those really tight lies around those fast greens.

I suppose a single digit handicap player might have liked the conditions more than me.

I played the previous week at Twin Rivers for about the same price and found the conditions much better.

Nice course but a little busy

This is a traditional style course designed before lakes, waterfalls and features abounded on every hole. Tree lined fairways dictate accurate shot making. Tame Fox squirrels always a fun addition. Pace a little slow today - played here when it was much quieter and faster. Some fairways and approaches a little scruffy making shots difficult to play but always a good day out at this course. Nice people.

Good Course, Great Carts, Slow play

Play was extremely slow. Need to have an on course ranger to keep golfers moving. Tee times were to close together.

Stay away !!!

The fairways were a joke. They were 100% hard pan - at best. Also, the greens were fungus ridden. The pace of play was o, with no rangers in sight.
Adding to our outing, the group in front of us was two holes behind on the front nine , and at the turn, no one said a word to them.
Stay away...

Río Pinar

11am tee time. I got paired with a member and 2 others playing there for the first time. We didn't get off the #1 tee box until 1135 and then we are behind a 5some walking. Nice layout, lotta history. Course was not very well taken care of. Greens rolled good if you didn't have to putt over invasive grass/weeds. Good range balls but only 2 Target pins.

Not female friendly

Course played extremely long from the ladies tee. We shared the same tee box with the whites on most holes. I have a 16 handicap and get off the tee effectively for most courses but couldn’t get on the green in regulation. Greens were in good shape but something about being painted gave it a different look I guess hard to read. Only saw 2 other women ahead of us on the course that might be saying something. Even my husband thought it wasn’t fair for women especially for the 70 plus ladies. We were paired up with another very nice couple who were seasonal members who gave us great course knowledge and history.

Great inner city value

Rio Pinar underwent a remodel of its clubhouse and it is a salutation to its storied PGA history, with beautiful photos of yesteryear all over the walls.. The flooring looks great, it is clean, and the staff are attentive. The next big step is reseeding the course and cleaning up the sandtraps, and adding a field marshall to ensure a faster pace of play.
