Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Nice and challenging
The title says it all. Nice course and some challenging holes. The rough is rough!

Fun course
I liked course but maintenance wasn’t good. Grass is too long so hard to find a ball. And hidden potholes..

In good shape but a few things
1 the greens were painfully slow for second week in a row (haven’t played before that)
2 the rough/fairway just outside the fringe is not well maintained. After missing some greens had several lies in a bald spot or right up against a bald spot made for difficult contact. I don’t mind long rough but I shouldn’t have a ball half on grass half in dirt.

Great course for price
Always have fun playing Pohick. No beer cart on Wednesday. At the turn only on person working inside, there was a about 5 people ahead checking in, so that took a while getting snack and drink.
Staff was friendly.
It’s not a course to walk as there is a fair amount of elevation.

A Hidden gem
Wow. This was a beautifully maintained course and the greens were challenging and rolled true. Correct Club selection is key at Pohick, because choosing to hit driver on some holes is a definite business decision. Love this course. Kudos to all the people who work hard to keep this course looking and playing like a country club course.
