Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Excellent Value
Challenging layout and a premium of golf shots and not length. Course was soggy due to the heavy rains. Course is usually in good shape and is great value.

Fun, would Play Again
Course was wet and muddy, but greens rolled great and was a fun/challenging track. Lots of elevation changes and need for precise shots off tee and approaching greens.

Course
I felt the course was a bit gimmicky. Lots of 90 degree doglegs. There is significant up and down and edge rolls off drastically. All in all a reasonable course requiring precision

Fantastic Muni
Course is in good condition. Not a championship course but fun and scenic. Pace of play is always a tad behind where it should be but not terrible for a muni course. I would recommend this course 10/10 times for the value.
Solid Course, a bit pricey
Had a great day, pace of play was Fantastic. The course is in good, not great shape. And the back nine continues to be cart path only. Probably a little overpriced, but it's an otherwise nice, fair, and solid track.

Very Nice Course
This was my first time playing this course. I loved the layout of the course. The course was tough, but fair. The greens were lightning fast. The greens were very tough. Lots of undulation on the greens. The fairways and tee boxes were just OK. Some weeds on both. Would love to play this course again. Maybe a different time of year, when the course is in better shape. Our group loved the course and will definitely be back.

The lady at the counter was really not attentive. She was quite slow, distracted, and ultimately failed to give me the GOLFNOW rate, which was lower than the prevailing greens and cart fee. To compensate me, I asked for a large bucket of balls, but somehow she neglected to provide a code to the ball dispenser machine. I ensured to follow up. Despite this less than stellar start, the pace of play on the back 9 was very slow because of slow players. The (friendly) course marshal did his best to explain the situation to my group and move slower players along, but there was only much he could do short of kicking off the slow players on the last half of the back 9. It was a wash by then. All said, it was not the best experience, but not the worst either.
