Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course in Lorton has been one of the area's most popular public courses since it opened in the early 1980s. Playing at Pohick Bay is like playing two golf courses in one, with a front nine that has long, tree-lined fairways and a hillier back nine that features a variety of doglegs and water holes. It is a definitely a shot-maker's course so be prepared to use some creativity and some thoughtful strategizing doesn’t hurt either. The constant up and down of the golf course provides uneven lies and a number of blind shots. The dramatic terrain also makes it a tough course to walk. Trees frame most of the holes, demanding accuracy but also providing a peaceful and secluded feel. Pohick Bay Regional Park Golf Course is popular amongst locals for being one of the most challenging and yet also one of the most affordable courses in the area.

Very Nice Course
This was my first time playing this course. I loved the layout of the course. The course was tough, but fair. The greens were lightning fast. The greens were very tough. Lots of undulation on the greens. The fairways and tee boxes were just OK. Some weeds on both. Would love to play this course again. Maybe a different time of year, when the course is in better shape. Our group loved the course and will definitely be back.
Greens are fast for the course Tournament on 9/26. Best shape it’s been in all year.

The lady at the counter was really not attentive. She was quite slow, distracted, and ultimately failed to give me the GOLFNOW rate, which was lower than the prevailing greens and cart fee. To compensate me, I asked for a large bucket of balls, but somehow she neglected to provide a code to the ball dispenser machine. I ensured to follow up. Despite this less than stellar start, the pace of play on the back 9 was very slow because of slow players. The (friendly) course marshal did his best to explain the situation to my group and move slower players along, but there was only much he could do short of kicking off the slow players on the last half of the back 9. It was a wash by then. All said, it was not the best experience, but not the worst either.

Really nice staff. Organized. Nice layout. Just a little “tired” - some of landscaping needs some attention. But definitely worth the price. Great location.

Nice course, good price. A lot of area golf courses seem to have suffered from a brutally hot summer and some torrential rains, and conditions here were no exception. But a nice layout, immersed in nature, hill and trees everywhere. Man working the inside desk did not exchange pleasantries, kinda gruff. Speed of play was good even though course was pretty crowded. All in all a fun day out, I would return.

Perfect everything, except my putting
Love this course, especially playing it from the blues. You hit every shot in your bag and can reach every hole but on a tight track with tricky greens and blind shots.

Course is forgiving
This course has a lot of blind shots but does eat a lot of balls I had a good time and definitely will be back
