Golfer Reviews
Rude staff
Let me start off by saying I have played both of these courses before and the courses are always in good shape for being public courses on the other hand we had a horrible experience yesterday that is just on excusable. Our teatime was at 7:30 in the morning I was a single there was another gentleman who is a single the starters told us there was a 35 minute gap 20 times and if we wanted to go out on the course we could go out on the mustang we agreed and said we would start early and teed off on the first hole. our teatime was at 7:30 in the morning I was a single there was another gentleman who was a single the starters told us there was a 35 minute gap between teetimes and if we wanted to go out on the course we could go out on the mustang we agreed and said we would start early and teed off on the first hole. . We were greeted on the fairway by a groundskeeper which was friendly and he said he was sorry but there are flags down on some of the greens we thought the same kind of odd we just want to head and pushed on we got to the third hole and noticed all the sprinklers were on the fourth and fifth holes and couldn’t even play on those holes we stopped on the fourth hole and I called the clubhouse. There were five other groups behind us we were the lead group I told the clubhouse that the sprinklers are on and wondering and was wondering if they would turn them off they said they would get a hold of the superintendent and they would get them off. After five or 10 minutes they were still running I called up again to the clubhouse and was greeted by a gentleman I believe his name is Ryan he greeted me very rudely told me we were not to be out on the course and basically we were freelancing on the golf course at that time I said they were five other groups behind us so we are the only ones out here the starters told us to come over here he then told me that nobody would’ve told us to go over there . I’ve been told him so basically you were calling me a liar at this point he started to get very loud and yelled at me screaming on the phone very unruly unprofessional people that were behind us could hear him yelling through the phone they told us that we were going to be removed from the course . we made our minds up that we were not going to leave especially when we paid money to play at the scores and for something they messed up eventually that are groundskeepers came out and turn all the sprinklers off because they figured out they were wrong . All I have to say is I will never play this course again I will tell every one of my friends and people live in Naples or vacationing her to never play this place due to the behavior of their staff I have played golf for many many years and I’ve been around a lot of business situation I don’t and have never seen somebody. Course was in great shape just a little pricey for this time of year
Mustang course
Staff was friendly and helpful, let me out as single on either public course. GPS on carts very helpful.
Greens were nice and hard, rolled perfectly. Lot of water and hazards, some tee shots needed placement. Played from white to get familiar with course, definitely will move back next round. Great course.
Lely Mustang
Good- fun- hard fast greens. Tricky if you don’t know the course.
Great value at twilight
Mustang course was in outstanding condition. Played in less than 3 hours and then enjoyed 19th hole @ Sam Sneas Tavern. Very helpful staff.
Flamingo was meh...
Maybe the expectations were high but I wasnt impressed. For a course that is over $100 to play, the grounds should be maintained better. Lely’s classic course looked awesome but its private. Mustang also looked to be in better shape.(from a distance) played 4 courses on my trip(this was the most expensive) and was in the worst condition.
Excellent course and using golf now was a great value to enjoy it.
Beautiful tough course
Wide fairways. Great staff. Lots of water and sand. Wish the pro shop was stocked better.
I just don’t think the course is in good enough condition to charge what they do, everything else such as staff and clubhouse was very good
Disappointed
Expected more. Range was off mats which was not expected at a course like this. Tess and fairways were in bad shape. My playing partners cart died after 13 holes; and my wife and I basically had to push ours in the last 3 holes. Only one person could ride. Staff were great though!
Rude Staff
My Brother-In-Law was is in town and we decided to play the Lely Mustang course. We had inaccurately booked just 3 of the 4 available Golf Now tee times for the 02:13 pm time slot on 3/11/2018. Needing 4 tee times I soon went on Golf Now to book the remaining 1 available slot but Golf Now had moved the 1 slot to 12 minutes later. Rather than book the 12 minute later tee time and join the group I called your pro desk and the gentleman said the 02:13 slot was still available and they would honor the Golf Now price. Thinking I was good to go I was taken back when your desk attendant charged me $129 plus tax. I paid the $136.74. I'm very surprised to see how indifferent your attendant was about the situation. So I paid $46.74 more than the other three in the group.
We arrived at the course 30 minutes early and were all out on the putting green just 40 feet away from the starter. We pulled up to the starter location a few minutes before our tee time and and the starter stated he'd just let off a twosome off who had no reservation because the starter believed we were not on the premises... a no show. It turns out the two gentleman were starters at your course who had no tee times and I'm absolutely convinced the starter knew we were there waiting to go off. I am accepting of waiting the extra 12 minutes to get a couple starters out on the course however, when the starter is not completely honest about the real situation, it's upsetting.
Getting past the previous incidents we were enjoying our play being 12 minutes ahead of your GPS schedule when the threesome behind us decided to skip hole 12 and move around us to hole 13 without a simple acknowledgement we even existed. Apparently are ahead of schedule play was not fast enough for the threesome., who turned out to be members or entitled members in this case.
I won't be [playing Lely again and recommend that others avoid this over priced, rude staff and very unorganized course. Not one ranger was on the course with the exception of the two starter/rangers that took our time slot.
Avoid this course at all costs.
Below average experience
Unfortunately we did not have the best experience at Lely. The staff from the bag drop, to the pro shop, on to the bar, and the golf course were stuffy and unfriendly. At the turn we went in to use the facilities and grab food/drinks for the back nine; this ended up taking forever as the bartender took her time wiping down tables before taking our orders. When we finally got our food/drinks we were greeted at our carts by the starter who said we needed to get to the tee asap (he literally was clapping at us to pick it up) When we got there the group in front of us hadn’t even cleared the fairway.
The course itself is average to good. All skill levels can play it and not feel overwhelmed. Greens rolled around 10 and were true. Decent set of par 3s, couple of strong 4s, and good risk/reward 5s.
