Zellwood Station & Country Club
About
A 238-yard par 3, a 259-yard par 4, a treacherous hole called the "Train Wreck" and a five-hole stretch around a cavernous dry lake dubbed "Crater Junction" all help make the semi-private Zellwood Station Golf Club unique. Featuring hilly terrain not often seen at Florida golf courses, the George Maddox design, which opened in 1974, is a challenge. Located about 30 minutes from Orlando, Zellwood Station G.C. is known to be in good shape, especially the greens.

Weed infested
One of the worst courses I’ve ever been on. I don’t believe it’s ever been watered and fertilized
Pay attention
Course is ok. Very dry fairways. Greens very wet as are the edges around the greens. So balls will run on fairways but slow greens and muddy around the greens. You have to figure out what to do. Ok for the value. Most holes have blind shots and deep fall offs if your approach shots are off center.
Recurring player
Everything was ok; someone needs to check the bathrooms to ensure there’s TP. 👎🏼
“Surprise” tournament
If you set up a full on tournament next time just block tee times from being book until a certain time and don’t use the excuse that they just “walked in” but had tents and signs set up everywhere! No carts available, no range balls available, the putting and chipping was covered of golf balls left from the youth golfers…. The bathrooms barely had any TP available! They wanted to give attitude rather than admit you messed up. I saw the cart girl twice at the clubhouse but never going around.
Course conditions were great except a few tee boxes that had literal holes 2-3 inches deep on the blues and 2 or so greens still needed some TLC.
Course is getting better.
Overall in good shape, fairways are good, greens are a little slow with new grass coming in but putts are rolling ok. Pace was good in the back 9. Fun course to play.
Never Again
Hey, Zellwood management, you have to let people know that you are having 100 golfers descend on your facility for a tournament so that unsuspecting players don't get caught in a slow-play disaster created by you.
Goodbye to your hideous goat-ranch forever.
always a great time here
Nice, casual atmosphere. Always think it's on the easier side, but never score too well here ;)
Definitely a great value.
Groups off the back nine
We teed off playing behind a group of ladies who ended up only playing 9 holes. On hole 10 the course sent off three groups in front of us that were only playing 9 holes. We wanted to let the starter know that we should have precedence over the tee box since we were coming off 9 but there was no starter to be found. The guys at the tee box said the starter told them to tee off in front of us so we had to sit and wait for 3 groups before we could start the back nine. Poorly managed.
Poor communication
we arrived 30 mins early, used putting green, not in great shape. Clubhouse told us who we were paired with. Starter came up and said disregard and go with a single guy. Waited on every hole .We waited even longer on back 9. 2some had no golf etiquette. Parked below green at all holes instead of on cart path. Extra time to walk back down to cart. People did not fix ball marks on greens, or rake sand. Womens tee boxes were terrible. On flat ground, not tee boxes. Greens terrible. Someone needs to better schedule tee times or give up on Golf Now. It was a messed up day.
Beater course
It took us 4.5 hours which seemed longer because we were a twosome. The course was backed up and no opportunity to play through. Fairways, tees, greens , and rough were all bad. Greens were cut short and quick enough but little good grass and were bumpy. It’s pretty cheap but would spend a bit more and play elsewhere.
Great layout
I will start with the good things. The greens are Good the layout is great. The t boxes are good around the green crappy and the bad thing is there is no Ranger on the course and the other thing is the two pin location were illegal because ,the ball doesn’t stop around the holes 16 and 18 of the pins where up hill if you put it, the ball always roll back like 6 feet .
But on and all the restaurant is really good. The food is great. They have a good prices.
Course Crowding
I've played this course on 3 different occasions and on this latest visit I had an unusual experience.
First we were a 3some and teed off behind two women's groups. They were a little slow starting out but picked it up so that we finished the front 9 in a little over 2 hours. When we got to 10 the ladies were done but the course put out a 3some in front of us and as we were standing on the 10 tee box another 2some showed up and said the pro shop told them they were to tee off in front of us. Now this isn't something to0 unusual except that my past experience with this type thing was that the golfers making the turn had precedence of teeing off over guys just getting to the course. Of course there was no starter around to talk to about this and the 2some was insistent that they keep up with their friends in the 3some that just went out when we arrived at the turn. To avoid any further confrontation we let them tee off and the preceded to play a two and half hour back nine. Enough said.
