Wyncote Golf Club
About
Wyncote Golf Club in Oxford is one of the most challenging courses in the area. The heathlands layout feels like a links course with wind being an important factor and thick fescue coming into play. The golf course starts with an especially tough front nine but there are more scoring opportunities on the back. Mounded bunkers and moguls define the movement of the fairways and though there aren't many trees, if you don't keep your shots straight you might find yourself out-of-bounds or lost in the high, wiry grass. Sidehill lies await you as well as a few blind shots. Wyncote's greens have little undulation but the lightning fast putting surfaces are a challenge for players of all skill levels. With a few "grip it and rip it" holes mixed in, Wyncote Golf Club is a tough but fair test.

this course is in pristine condition!
the fairways are like greens in perfect condition! and the greens fast and smooth! perfect!!
Course has character
I have never been disappointed playing this course. For those who don't like trees this is the course to play.
My Favorite Course
Best Muni Course in Souther Chester County, PA. Truly a well maintained course that is challenging and enjoyable. Only two negatives: often windy, which can create complications. Also, the ownership needs to invest in rakes for bunkers!! Dumbest thing ever to have on carts...why, for benefit of grounds crew? People always forget, and the sand doesn't get raked out! Get some rakes...come on.
Great Greens
Played from the golds. There are no red tees so you do the math. Made 3 or 4 longish 1 putts. That never happens to me! The rest of the course was in great shape as well. The young women at the turn was pleasant and professional. I redeemed my $10 reward to get the cost down. Arrived early and I was told to go out when ever I was ready. Highly recommend.
One of the Best!
I have played here about 5 times and would play here even more if it wasn't for the distance.
I am over an hour away.
I love the layout of this course. I'm a links style golfer and this is ideal.
The only caveat (and this is on me) is that I'm a bit of a chunker and like soft lies. Their fairways have tight grass, which is not a bad thing, but I prefer the softer grass.
So Surprized
I played on 6/24. I was blown away on the excellent conditions of the whole course. Rough is severe, but the tees, greens and fairways were excellent. I've played the course a number of times, but this is the best I've seen.
The off course stuff, the Pub/grille was excellent, Best serice and food around.
Beautiful track, must play
Got a great deal on Golf Now but this course is a must play either way. Well maintained, great layout and tough greens make a tough challenge.
Never Disappointed
Great course. Challenging; greens always in great shape.Reduced Rates AFTER 12:00 on the weekends
Tough course
This course is not over the top on amenities, though they have a great pub and a very nice golf shop. When out on the course, the amenities are much more like a municipal course, but the condition of the course and how tough it is brings you back to the fact this could be a private course and you didn't pay much to tee it up. Value for the money is tremendous if you want to play a tough course which is ranked high for a reason.
in great shape
played here on 5/29 and the course was immaculate. The tee boxes, fairways and greens were as good as I've seen them here. The rough is always difficult at Wyncote and you must keep your ball away from it to score well. We got a 38 dollar rate to play from golfnow which on a weekend was a real nice deal.
If you've never played here, its a must visit. If you suffer from allergies, make sure to bring your Claritin too as the cut grass along with the pollen and wind can certainly affect them.
slow play
The pace of play was crazy slow... maybe due to the best weather of the year... but nevertheless, we had to stop after the front 9 because the pace was so bad.
One of best Muni courses in area
Always excellent conditions, challenging but fair layout. Longer course so makes you use all your clubs in bag. Greens are well maintained and roll smooth and true. Enjoyable scenery and fun to play, but course can be windy at times due to openness of terrain. Only real complaints: rakes on cart instead of in bunker is extremely stupid...bunkers often not raked because people forget rake. Owner needs to change and invest in having rakes at the bunkers. Also, cost for water in coolers ("honor system") is too high...cut price in half, the greens fees are already on the higher side. Last, pace of play can be slow...expect at least 4 to 5 hour round or longer, if busy (no marshals).
Great course
Friendly staff and great layout with great conditions
Great course
wonderful and nicely designed great course.
Very challenging, but overrated.
There are quite a few 4 and 5 star reviews here, but I tend to agree with the guy from Rising Sun who suggested it was overrated. I can't give it 1 star, but I certainly can't go higher than about 2.5 stars. When I booked my tee time, the "gentleman" on the phone was about as friendly as a box, and when I checked in with the pro shop, same thing. I never understand when unfriendly people work in the golf industry. They deal with people every single day, and they deal with recreation every single day. That's got to be a pretty good gig. If you don't like it, go get a job elsewhere. The clubhouse is impressive from the outside, but inside, it looks like they're already letting the place go. And every trash can I found inside was overflowing, and looked like they hadn't been emptied in weeks. My golf cart struggled the entire 18 holes, and appeared to be a bit older than the course itself. As for the course, it too seemed like they've already let it go. Since it's fairly new and has good reviews, I expected it to be in pristine condition, but it was far from pristine. Many many ball marks on greens, and many places that seemed to need a little attention. The grass in almost all fairways seemed to be a mix of about 8 different grass types, with lots of spotty patches. Again, not what I expected. Pace of play was slow considering the number of golfers. Some of the bunkers were in better shape than most courses, and the overall layout is interesting, and appealing to the eye. But some holes play exceedingly difficult from the respective tee markers, and there are probably too many blind shots for my taste. Overall, it was a challenging course, but it was also mostly a disappointment.
Wyndy-Cote
Good deal on GolfNow, so i drove over an hour to play based on the reviews. The course was in very good condition. Tees, fairways, bunkers and greens. Not a bad thing to say about the course or the clubhouse. I was a little disappointed in the golf carts, yes they worked as they should of, but they were old, no frills carts. I guess i was expecting the carts to be more modern for such an upscale facility. But not enough for me to give a bad review. The only complaint I could possibly give is no ranger to speed up play from a very slow 4some in front of a 2some. As we stood on almost every tee-box on the back nine waiting for them to wave us thru, it never happened. But the round was still less than 5 hours, and i was enjoying the course so much, it didnt bother me waiting like that too much.
What A Treat!
Very good deal to drive an hour and a half to play Wyncote.
The course conditions were excellent. Don't let the 6000 yards from the white tees fool you, the wind is always a factor here. The greens were good for early April. I was a little surprised about the older no frills golf carts for such an upscale club. But it didn't affect my round. The only complaint I had was no ranger to move along a very slow group.
Always in great shape
Wyncote Golf Club,
Is always consistant in its greens, fairways rough heather and tee boxes. The practice range has it all, The pro shop always has what you need and the resturant is as consistant with food and service as the course itself. I have to say I was a member for 3 years there. When you want a guaranteed very good golf course to play on, go to Wyncote.
While we're young!
Course was great- my only qualm was the fact that we were stuck behind a frustratingly slow group. Other than that, the course was in great shape as always, and will only be getting better as Spring kicks in.
Most of the tall grass that lines holes had ben cut or burned, so the course had a totally different look and feel than usual- much more open.
Always in great shape
Course was in great ccondition especially since it was the beginning of March and usually always is. The weather wasn't too good so there weren't many people out on the course which made the pace of play excellent. As always, the overall round was great.
