English Turn Golf & Country Club
About
English Turn Golf & Country Club is a Jack Nicklaus design that was crafted in 1988 to host the New Orleans PGA Tour event. Nicklaus designed the course to be enjoyed equally by spectators and golfers, incorporating gallery berms and spectator mounds throughout. This challenging design is known for its undulating greens that will test even the most seasoned players. Each hole has a unique design that combines strategically placed bunkers, including large waste bunkers, and sloping grass swales. There is also carefully sculpted mounding along the edges of the fairways. On top of that, water comes into play on nearly every hole. English Turn's signature hole, the 15th, is a tricky par 5 with an island green but it's the final hole, a par 4 with water all along the left side, that is rumored to be the golf course's toughest.

Great course to check off the list
Beautiful grounds, huge club house, great practice facility. I paid $50 for my round on a weekday afternoon. Was like being a member of a really nice country club for the day. Course is lined with beautiful properties, including Emeril Lagasse's. Also, PGA tour used to stop there before TPC New Orleans.
English Turn
Love playing this course. Only down side is the best deals or on weekdays, so looking forward to another holiday or vacation day. The Zurich classic used to be played there which should give some indication of the play-ability. Love the island green hole, it'll raise the hair on your neck.
Great course you can make it as hard as you want
I had a great time, I play as a single but I got paired with a nice member.
Beautifully layed out course. Lots of trouble.
Water comes into play on every hole. Hundreds of sands traps and lots of waste bunkers that are not user friendly. I love this course, toughest course I've ever played. This course is not for beginners!
Pricey but Nice
A little expensive for the area. Course in good condition, staff friendly and helpful. No directional signage, so though to tell where next hole is. I played as a single, behind two foresomes...not a good call. They graciously let me through and pace was great after that, felt like my own private course. Beautiful area and course.
Where's the next tee box
I've never played a golf course that didn't mark there tee boxes! I figured it out but could have been easier. Also the course was not available on sky caddie and they have no gps on the carts even though their set up for it. Could not get the guy in the pro shop to hook me up with anyone, so played alone kinda boring. Course was very beautiful and in great shape so go play it if you get the chance. Very beautiful homes around the course and water on every hole with alligators so beware!
Greens left a lot to be desired
Played here for the first time. The driving range and practice areas were great. The clubhouse is very nice and the staff was helpful and friendly. The course was in very good condition with the exception of the green speeds. The greens were painfully slow. I have played a lot of courses all over the Southeast and have never observed greens at a course this nice and expensive roll that slow. They were healthy, just extremely hairy and slow. I know weather is a huge factor and perhaps they were not able to roll and/or mowed them for some reason. But it was extremely disappointing to pay over $100 for a round, expect a first class course, and have to absolutely hammer 15 foot putts to get them to the hole.
Good course but felt out of place
Ive played alot of courses all over louisiana, mississippi, and alabama. This was my first time playing a golf course that had changed from private to semi private. Not sure if all courses like this are the same but this place felt odd. Course was great. Was extremely wet from the previous few days of rain and still played well. Course had some nice holes. The problem was that if you weren't a member they let you know by the way they talked. We were shadowed the whole round. They tried to hide it but we caught on mid ways through the round. We booked through golf now so every time they asked a question or talked to us we were reffered to as "golf now guys." I heard that phrase at least 10 times that day. You can tell you are not wanted there at the course but they need your money to keep it up. Every thing else about the place was great. I may have had a one time bad experience but next time i will be weary and will pay attention to things like this. Hopefully, It was just one bad day.
Great Course
Still the all time best course in NOLA in my opinion. One of the older courses where thought and creativity was part of the design, not just making it 7,000 yds. Gotta love English Turn.

5 star
Great course!!! Will play here many more times. Very friendly staff and great practice area
Bring your A game
great couse; very tough, used to host the local PGA event. Tiny greens.
Fair but demanding challenge.
My wife and I played English Turn for the first time. The course was in very good condition; the greens smooth and very fast. Course demands accurate tee shots on many holes, but not unreasonably so. Overall a very pleasant experience except for the pace of play, but that wasn't the course management's fault--just very slow golfers.

Skip TPC and play here!
I played three courses in the area this week and English Turn was by far my favorite. If I am ever back in the NOLA area I will play every round here. The Golf Now discount was great when compared with the regular non resident rate. I was paired with some nice local members. This was helpful as they shared their course knowledge with me.
NOLA Hospitality
Kudos to the GM who spent extra time regaling us with local vibe and sports chat. With a cigar and cocktail it was a perfect cap to a great day of golf! Have played this course twice on two different visits to NO I'll definitely have it on the schedule for the next visit.
Great course. Excellent staff.
Overall the course was great to play. The greens are small, which will challenge anyone's approach game. The staff was excellent. They did a great job of monitoring pace of play and the beverage cart was never far.
Great Day at TheTurn
I have had the opportunity to play all over Louisiana and must say that my time at English Turn has been one of the most enjoyable. Relative to the current home of the PGA Tour event, these greens are smaller and more challenging. I liked the premium on accuracy off the tee. I also liked the options you had on 2nd shots into the par 5's. The clubhouse and staff within were first rate. The practice facilities are also first rate. Time well spent and I will be back!
Kindest Regards,
Frank Davis
Greens need work
One of the most beautiful courses you will find in New Orleans. That being said, I was shocked how beat up some of the greens were. Still worth every penny, but its a shame such a nice course has 6-8 greens that look like an unkempt municipal course.
English Turn
It was a great day for golf, they had alot of rain the last two days. They had the 90 degree rule but the course dried out. Everyone there was super friendly, good food, great staff and cart girl on each 9 even though they weren't busy. Nice to have a ice cold beer in the summer heat.
It was just ok
Fairways were great, greens need a lot of attention
