Eagle Improving
Course was in much better condition this year than in previous years. More still needs to be done but for price it is a good play. Staff was very helpful and attentive. I would recommend playing there for the price and for the course itself. Still needs more money put into it but on the right track.
Fairway only
Signage not so great. Finding the first tee box was a challenge. Tee boxes and greens need TLC. IF you can't hit the fairway don't play here. You might not find your ball. But you might find someone else's. I only had time for 9 but Golf Now didn't have the option. At least it was a beautiful day! 😍
Course needs attention.
Greens in poor condition. Fairways good for practicing purposes. Staff friendly. The course has gone downhill from what it formally was. Have not played the course for several years.
Too bad!
This course has been on our playlist for years when we visit HHI. It has gone down hill over the years. It’s too bad because it’s a nice lay out.
Good Value for the Area, but Needs Some TLC
Travelled 13 miles from HHI to play this course as the deal was too good to pass up. Found myself somewhat surprised by how quick it was to get started and play. Greens were in good shape; some fairways needed water badly; sand traps were packed hard. Staff were OK but scarce. Very few amenities on course, and grill was not open at 9 AM for coffee or food. It was open as I made the turn at 11 AM, and attendant was not particularly friendly.
Will never play it again
As you would expect on a sunny, 82 degree Friday afternoon in late October, the course got busy. The front was really backed up. So I skipped 5,6,7,8, and 9 and went to the back 9 where things weren’t as congested. After 18, I went back to #1 to make up the skipped holes. That’s when Matthew showed up. Matthew interrogated me on the tee box about why I was back on #1. When I told him I was making up skipped holes, he seemed angry. Very rude and condescending. Long story short, I ended up going all the way to #5 and finished my round. Dan the outside guy is a good dude. Totally helpful and reasonable. But Matthew not so much. I couldn’t believe how he came at me. I will NEVER go back. I encourage others to spend your money elsewhere.
stay in the fairway!
off the fairway by 12th" and start searching Bermuda swallows ball!
Don't get off the fairway
Bermuda rough too high so would loose ball if inches off the fairway. course is fairly easy with no forced carries, so should play fast, however was very slow for us trying to look for lost balls. Cut paths were VERY bad had to go very slowly to not get knocked off the cart
High roughs
Course has changed from. The last time we played, played longer with higher roughs tougher getting older
Below average for Carolina golf
Saw Davis Love course and was disappointed overall. Rough was really long, hard to find balls when it’s that high. The putting greens are completely missing grass in portions. General landscaping around clubhouse and tee boxes are shabby. Cart paths are extremely bumpy, with tree roots heaving. Bar was not open for any beverages. I have played a lot of Carolina golf from Pinehurst for years and other Hilton Head Plantation courses and this was ranked with the lowest I’ve played in the Carolinas. On the other hand I did like the actual layout, and the picturesque back drops of some of the greens with towering pines behind. One thing to note, tell the guy driving the gator around to each hole and running the irrigation heads, that he is driving way too close to the greens and leaving muddy tracks right along the fringe every time. I know you work there and the job gets monotonous, but please respect the distance buffer near the greens. I think this course has potential, but catch it now before it gets worse.
Grass
The grass was way too tall. The rough area should be cut down atleast another inch or two. If you went in the rough the ball(if you could find it) was basically 4” deep In thick/tall grass. Other than that it was good
