About
The 18-hole Eagle's Pointe Golf Club in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1998. Designed by Davis Love III, Eagle's Pointe measures 6,738 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 130 and a 72.5 USGA rating. The course features 4 sets of tees for different skill levels.
The hallmarks of Eagle's Pointe are its classical, risk-reward design, natural beauty, strategy, variety and superb conditioning, along with outstanding customer service.
Winding through stands of moss-draped live oaks and pines and fresh-water wetlands and lagoons, Eagle's Pointe Golf Club's spacious corridors allow the golfer to keep driver in hand, while its dramatic bunkering, unique green sites and contoured putting surfaces combine to create one of the most exciting venues in the South Carolina Lowcountry.

I used to lik3this course
Previously I thought of this course as a bargain and a course that was in shape better than similarly prices courses.
I learned that they have a new owner, someone who doesn’t play golf. The course looks lik3 they are mowing it but they fairways were green with weeds, the greens were unspeakable, the traps were unrated. Some held water, and it hasn’t been raining. I am sad to write this one off,

The greens are terrible, the pro shop person was very unfriendly, but the starter was good.

I figured out why it was so cheap to play, as the greens, bunkers and tee boxes were the worst I’ve ever played.
It’s not worth playing at any price.

Cool morning round
Greens in terrible shape and bunkers were more mud than sand. Tee boxes were very poor and makers had not been moved for a day or two.

Greens in poor shape
Greens and sand traps were in poor shape. Weeds prevalent in every green which was disappointing for this area.

True value for money
Despite the low cost to play Eagle’s Pointe the course is challenging and some of the holes afford spectacular views. The greens require focus and a soft touch on some of the hole locations. I love the course!

Greens were criminal. Weeds on the green and in the bunker. Bunker rakes were displaced. The pro shop wasn’t even open on my arrival. The bag drop/cart guy (from OH) was amazing. If I played with my friends, they would have demanded their money back.

Greens
The main issue was the condition of the greens. They were not good. Could not get a true, consistent roll.

bad greens
The fairways were comparable to other courses on Hilton Head for this time of year. The tee boxes were poor to good depending on the hole. The greens were extremely poor to unplayable. The course layout is really nice. That being said, for $38 on golfnow I can't really complain when most of the other courses at this time of year are over $100. I would play probably play here again for this price.

Conditions
This course has possibilities. However the sand traps need refurnishing. The greens are in terrible conditions with unknown grasses growing everywhere and at different heights. At times was beneficial as it stopped my ball from rolling too far past. Played winter rules as couldn’t get a good lie anywhere

First time playing Eagle’s Pointe this morning and the layout was fun and challenging. Jim (from the cart shack area when you pull up) was very welcoming and helpful. I am only in Hilton Head for a few days but am looking forward to playing this course again next time I visit.
P.S. Be very mindful of the Gators around the course. Was told about a resident monster on 18 and he was there sunbathing on the bank 15-20 feet from the tee box (3rd gator we saw during our round).
