The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Challenging in a relaxing way.

The par 3s have very reasonable distances about 125 yds for female tee. A couple of the par 4s are target golf. Tricky but not impossible, and the gorgeous view brings joy so it doesn't matter how many balls you lose. Immaculate course, lots of wildlife, thoroughly enjoyable.

Got the round done in 3 hours .

Long Time favorite

It's been a long time since I'd played Old South but it was a worthwhile wait. I remembered every hole and enjoyed sharing the course with a very long time friend....

The course was in great shape, we were first out (love that) and the outside and inside course representatives were engaging and very friendly.

I'll definitely be back in a much shorter time than this lapse....thanks Old South...

Four of us played the Fasio course the day before. Not impressed on any level. Old South was new to us but we took a chance. We all loved it. Great layout and conditions.

Wet conditions … but still good shape

First time playing … quite wet due to a lot rain … Reasonable pace of play considering Cart Path only. Greens were pretty slow but rolled well considering wet conditions. Several holes would be played differently the second time around … a bit tricky to figure out best shot off tee. All in all, an enjoyable day.

Good conditions, but didn't like the layout

This was a very nice course condition-wise, but I didn't care for the design at all. There were 4 times I was in the fairway and couldn't hit the called-for shot to the green because of trees, some in the fairway VERY close to the green, and others with overhang. That, plus a par 5 that you had to hit 7 iron off the tee??!?...just doesn't make sense.

Your comments are unusual as we can't understand which Par 5 you think requires a 7 iron off the tee. We regret you didn't enjoy the course as much as most of our customers do.
