The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Great experience at Old South

Old South was a fantastic experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the course was in great condition and a beautiful layout. It is a bargain compared to some of the other similar courses in Hilton Head. Many sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. We thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to playing it again when we come back to HH!

Great golf course layout. Pace of play was excellent

Condition were a 9 out of 10. Greens were consistent e and had nice pace, I’d say 10.5

Staff was friendly and attentive.

The greens were not in great shape. They had been sanded and we were not informed of this nor did we get a discount for our price if $125.00. Would nit recommend.

Greens were overseeded and top dressed which is necessary for this time of year. Our morning rate is $109. If you were unhappy after a few holes you could have returned to the Golf Shop for a refund.

Fun course, mix of challenges

This was our first time playing this course and we will be back. The course has an interesting mix of challenges and beautiful scenery (I was told by experience players years ago when I was learning that you have to take in the sites when playing). The staff was very friendly and helpful.

I decided to take a lesson with one of their instructors in the morning to fix some issues that have cropped up this year and I can't say enough about it. Thanks Greg, your approach and instruction were great! Just what I needed.

Thanks for the 5 stars. We regret you didn't see the beverage cart more frequently. Usually they pass each group 3-4 times so something was amiss.

Fun to play Great staff

More courses should take a lesson from Old South. Hospitality was great. Cart guys, pro shop staff, starter ,cart girl and return cart guy was first class. Ranger and a course maintenance guy all seemed glad to be woking here .Very friendly All staff first class The course is a fun layout and I played years ago when on vacation.

Play this course you will judge all the rest comparing others . Thankyou for a great round and a nice day

Actually played twice (thurs/fri). Greens were in great condition but I thought slower on day 1, faster day 2. Don’t fly a shot into the bunkers, watched playing partners get deep buries in the soft sand. Overall, this course is my favorite off island.
