The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Good golf course…. But hate #7 and #16

Old South is a very good golf course (except for two stupidly laid-out holes—7 and 16!) Good conditions. Fair tee locations.

We are pleased to earn 4 stars. #7 & #16 can be challenging but the EPA wouldn't let us fill in the tidal marsh.

Old South

Old South was a good layout. There are a couple of quirky holes that are too target to target, but overall a good layout. The greens had been aerated a couple of weeks before, but they were coming into shape and putted well. Enjoyed the round and would play it again.

So disappointed, Atrocious greens

I always look forward to playing this course when visiting HH. What a disappointment this time. The greens were bare, simply horrible. Payed full price, and no mention of greens maintenance or aeration at check in. I love the course layout, but could not stomach the condition of the greens.

We regret you were disappointed but over-seeding is necessary in October. The winter grass may not be fully grown in but there is no rushing Mother Nature. If you were unhappy with conditions you could have returned to the golf shop after a few holes and a refund would be offered.

Great experience at Old South

Old South was a fantastic experience! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the course was in great condition and a beautiful layout. It is a bargain compared to some of the other similar courses in Hilton Head. Many sets of tees to accommodate all skill levels. We thoroughly enjoyed it and look forward to playing it again when we come back to HH!

Great golf course layout. Pace of play was excellent

Condition were a 9 out of 10. Greens were consistent e and had nice pace, I’d say 10.5

The greens were not in great shape. They had been sanded and we were not informed of this nor did we get a discount for our price if $125.00. Would nit recommend.

Greens were overseeded and top dressed which is necessary for this time of year. Our morning rate is $109. If you were unhappy after a few holes you could have returned to the Golf Shop for a refund.
