The 18-hole Old South Golf Links in Bluffton, S.C. is a public course that opened in 1991. Designed by Clyde Johnston, Old South Golf Links measures 6,772 yards from the longest tees and has a slope rating of 129 and a 72.4 USGA rating. The course features four sets of tees for different skill levels.

Johnston designed Old South Golf Links in keeping with the beautiful Lowcountry's natural landscape. "Old South Golf Links was designed not only to provide an enjoyable yet challenging golf game, but also to preserve the natural beauty of the land," he said. "I felt that this was an opportunity to allow the golfer to experience up close the uniqueness of the site, its natural amenities and spectacular views."

The variety of the setting from oak forest to open pasture to tidal salt marsh, provided an opportunity to vary the design elements and strategy of play.

Old South Golf Links is open to the public seven days a week. There is a clubhouse, restaurant and full-line pro shop on site.

Great place to golf!

Very nice course! Interesting hole layouts, some of them require strategy instead of taking out the driver on all Par 4’s. Having the GPS on the cart was very helpful especially if it’s your first time playing it. The greens were in great shape, they were pretty slow when we played. A few locals recommended this course. It was well worth the price! Would play it again! They’re some awesome views of the marshlands and the bridge going to Hilton Head.

Like my tires, my age (78) is less important than the wear and tear. As such, I have moved up. The result was 4 pars and 14 bogies. Handicap for such a round would be 21+, but who cares, I had fun!

Beautiful Low Country Course

Pristine natural property. Outstanding layout and open feel, almost like a park. Greens were over seeded and not in great shape. Great, helpful staff, really helped me when I missed my tee time. Most reasonable priced food at the restaurant. Two memorable target holes. Greens are just a tad too small. I loved this course and would come back again and again.

Nice course, some interesting holes!

Old South in mid-January was in very nice shape. Greens were beautiful green color, and tee boxes also. Course was in very good overall condition, including well maintained bunkers and sand traps. I shot a bit over my average, but that was mostly due to lack of familiarity with the course.

Very good value for the greens fee, which includes a cart $50-60.

A little wet

Love the course. Nice folks. Had first tee time so pace of play was no problem. Just the course holds water, cart path only.

Old South

I played a super nice course on the island that was only $10 more per person for 18, so I was expecting something similar for the money. I was a little disappointed, don’t get me wrong it was decent, I was just expecting something more! Basically the range was average, course conditions were average, and the amenities were just average.

Old South

I really like the layout and challenge of Old South. The course Fairways and even greens were soft. The day we played was cart paths only. The Greens look like they were recently over seeded with rye and were really slow.

Overseeding was done in October but the greens are slower than normal due to our wet, cold weather this winter. Sunshine and 60s will make a huge difference.

Friendly staff

First time in HH and had a preconceived notion that everyone would look down on visitors. But, the opposite was true. Everyone we came in contact with was pleasant and friendly! Claire
