Dos Osos Golf Club
About
Dos Osos Golf Club(formerly known as Eagle Crest Golf Club) is routed through the scenic San Pasqual Valley. Its secluded location and challenging layout have made Dos Osos one of San Diego's best-kept secrets. The beautiful layout incorporates cascading waterfalls and eight lakes along with colorful wildflowers and rolling green hills. The diverse golf course is a shot maker's layout that is player friendly enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels. It measures to a manageable 6,417 yards, but it still offers plenty of challenges. In addition to the water hazards, pristine white sand bunkers add a stark contrast to the lush greens. The golf course is narrow, especially on the front nine, which is tighter and has more tree-lined fairways. The bank nine opens up much more. Dos Osos Golf Club rewards accuracy and thoughtful strategy but it's not overly punishing for the high handicapper.

It’s ok for the price
The surrounding community was great but the course we’re not properly maintained specificallly the fairway, rough and bunker. The only thing they maintained were the greens
Course evaluation.
Course is getting better, but there are still many areas that need to be mowed on a more regular basis.
The greens are finally coming around after the over seating and punching. If you can get the fairways in acceptable condition, then I believe you will have a lot more business.
Don't play this course. Abandoned and not maintained.
This course has the potential to be incredible if it were maintained. You couldn't tell the different between fairways and rough sometimes. The pin position had not been changed since they plugged the greens two weeks prior. The tees were not level or well cared for. You could hit a drive straight down the middle of the fairway and lose you ball in a gopher hole. The staff showed no concern when we discussed our displeasure for the course conditions. They went on to say the course superintendent had a hernia and they currently don't have a mower and had to borrow one a few days before to mow the course. A cow pasture is better kept than this course. Don't waste your time or money. You will only leave frustrated and angry.
Bring Your Lawnmower
Terrible conditions. Bunkers full of weeds and dirt, fairways that looked more like a nature preserve with overgrown plants, gofer holes, and other obstructions. This course is located behind a gated community (will need a gate code to access), if I lived on this course, I would have thought that my view was of a nature preserve and not a golf course. Don't waste your time or money.
Terrible shape. Won’t be back.
Course was in terrible shape. What grass wasn’t dead was super long. You could lose your ball in the first cut. Dead frogs by their water hazards cause they were in terrible shape, first time I’ve ever seen that in a course. Fairways in terrible shape. Greens were long so they were super slow and didn’t roll well. Not a single thing I would recommend about this course. If you’re looking for value, go to Mt Woodson.
Course Condition.
The course is in better shape than it was six months ago. That being said, it needs a lot of work and they are starting to attend to the needs of the course. In speaking with management, they informed me there was a severe staff shortage of maintenance workers which precluded them from maintaining the course.
Bait and Switch
Should have read the reviews. Course was a horses pasture decorated with decent greens at the end. Lost at least 7 balls that were dead center. Could have been the overgrowth of weeds and grass or the gophers that have taken over the course.
Golfers Beware
My dad and I selected this course because its sponsored by Troon. Troon is known for its operation and management of luxury golf courses throughout the United States and abroad. What we experienced was profoundly disappointing. The fairways were blanketed with crabgrass with mud spots, and you couldn't tell where the rough started. The greens were in good condition. The experience was terrible; therefore, we stopped after nine holes. Golfnow rated it 3.5 stars, but it should be rated below 2 stars.
Golfers Beware!!
My dad and I selected this course because it's sponsored by Troon. Troon is known for its luxury golf course management and marketing; therefore, we expected to play an extraordinary golf course.
What we experienced was an embarrassment. The course was poorly maintained overall and the fairways were covered with crabgrass and mug spots which you often needed to reposition your ball. The fairways are so bad that you can't tell where they start and the rough begin. The greens were well maintained and the only highlight of the course. The course was profoundly disappointing that we stopped at hole nine. Golfnow has it rated at 3.5 stars but it should be actually rated below 2 stars.
Pictures are deceiving
I’m in San Diego for a memorial service. Thought I could mentally unwind by playing a late round of golf. Found this deal $30 for 18 holes with a cart. It’s exactly what I needed so I thought. as soon as I arrived I certainly became aware of a bait and switch. The pictures that I saw online were not the course that I encountered. Perhaps they were airbrushed or maybe from another decade. Struggle to find any thing I would call a fair way. It was primarily dirt rocks weeds and maybe some type of grass. The water on water holes was green and stagnant. It’s evident that very little TLC has been spent on this course.Well I paid for 18 holes I could only stomach nine holes. It was that unenjoyable. Would not recommend this to anyone. Pay another $30 and go play at singing Hills or some other course that is well known.
Major Disappointment
Ownership has let this course go from fairly nice to thoroughly dismal. Bunkers are nothing more than dirt and weeds. Not a grain of sand to be found. Fairways resemble a cow pasture and lack of any resemblance of a starter or Marshall caused an enormous back up. Course in its current condition is not worthy of a 6 hour round.
Needs improvement
I’ve played this course many time over several years and I’ve never seen it in this bad a shape. The fairways are patchy with dirt. The rough is uncut or cared for. The tee boxes and greens are in need of attention. I hope Troon brings the standard up significantly in the near future.
Eagle Crest Golf Course for the birds!
Eagle Crest, once in fairly good condition, is now in horrible condition! No sand in bunkers. Grass is long and United in many places. Gophers have taken over! Nothing smooth about fairways or greens! Way overpriced for a course in this poor condition. Will not be returning! One star is being generous! Very sad to see this course become nearly ungolfable!
Rough but playable
Course is rough, lots of different grasses and the greens were just plugged and sanded. However, for the price it’s still a good golf value.
