If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Super Friendly and Superb Condition
The course is very well maintained and the place has a really positive vibe! The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. The superintendent and their staff clearly know what they are doing. The only downside comes via the residential framing of the course - but that comes with being centrally located.
Great condition
Course was in great shape. Greens were true and rolled well. It was beautiful out there.
Good Value
Prices in Coachella Valley still pandemic high. Big Rock one of few that have reasonable price for twilight though still considerably higher than in the past. Used to see prices drop in April or post Easter but last year and this year they appear to be holding till end of May according to websites. Course is in good shape and staff from pro shop to starter very friendly and helpful. Will definitely play again.
Very friendly, payable course
My only complaint was the pace of play. Where was the Marshall? There should never be two sets of carts waiting to tee off on a hole. All else was great, neat, well groomed. GPS on carts, ball cleaners and tidy fairways.

Lots of fun
Good value
Courses in the Palm Springs/Palm Desert/Indio area have gotten very expensive. This was a nice break from the higher priced courses
Great Course
Course was in great shape, staff were friendly, price was decent. We would play it again, fairways, greens and tee boxes great shape.
Clubhouse / restaurant was excellent. Good value for your money.
Best Course in Town
Everything about this course is great. Course conditions are good, staff are friendly, and the pace of play was just right. I just wish it were easier to get a tee time, but that's just proof this course is a local favorite. You'll find it's just challenging enough without punishing you for trying the occasional risky shot. Definitely give this one a try if you have the chance.
