Indian Springs Golf Club
About
If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

Lost a few balls
The combo of wind and lakes caused a few of my balls to be swallowed up. Super windy day. Course was pretty challenging for me, anyway. But the fairways and greens were in pretty good shape! Good job! The starter appeared to have had a rough morning, but we got him loosened up and got him to smile.
Golf course review
I enjoyed myself, the course/greens were in good condition.
I played with 3 strangers, all good golfers to play with
Great value
Loved this course. First time we played it but it was in excellent shape. Played slightly under 4 hour round. Staff was excellent. After round drinks and food in clubhouse made a great round even better. This course will definitely be on our return list!!
Awesome course
The greens were perfect, course is in great shape & everyone very friendly. Love the outdoor patio area to have a few cold ones after your round.
Awesome Course Conditions
Love this course and the theme! Fast hard greens, green short fairways, taller grass around greens, dry Bermuda grass roughs and plenty of fairway bunkers along with green side bunkers make this course fun and challenging.
Fun course in great shape.
Wide fairways. Excellent greens. Pace of play was great. Very friendly staff and reasonable tee fees.
Also have a unique restaurant with a rock and roll theme. Good food and reasonable prices.
Excellent course
Great bang for your buck. Beautiful greens quick and true. Not a very hard setup. Great restaurant with some good dishes. Will play here again in a heartbeat.
Good Course
Great value for the money, will definitely come back and play again!
Great Track
Windy day in the desert but still had fun . Course in great shape. Big Rock bar perfect for casual apres golf,
First Time, First Out w/ Members
First 9 meanders through a neighborhood across (underpass) the road (Jefferson) from the clubhouse. Between many of the holes many crossings are made on residential streets.
Holes 10, 11 & 12 you need to cross the crosswalk to play. This layout appears to be a bit cockeyed, but it helps to make sure that this course has the recommended 18 total holes. The final 6 holes start and end right from the clubhouse, and are laid out like a typical PS or LQ area course.
The course is fun, moderate to easy. Having course knowledge is a positive in that there are some hidden hazards. Greens are fair however the bunkers are hard as opposed to having deep fluffy content.
This course is a great alternative to the PGA West courses that ask an arm and a leg. You will get very fair conditions but not PGA West conditions.
The starter seemed cold and unfriendly to me (not that I was looking for a hug or something) but then he turned to the members that I was playing with and turned friendly, joking and glad to see them. Wow! What did I do to set this guy off?
Also, make sure that you spend some time in the attached Big Rock Grille to see some of the Rock memorabilia especially if you are a Classic Rock Fan.
Nice course. Good price.
The old starter should be in a movie. The course is in excellent condition. The cart guy is somewhat less than enthusiastic but he’s nice enough. Sort of a minimum effort for hopefully maximum profit attitude.
