If you're sick of getting beat up and spit out by all the big-name, big-bite courses in the Palm Springs resort area paradise of La Quinta, Big Rock Golf & Pub at Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs could be the course for you.
This track provides a reprieve from the hacker battering. The design is pretty straight forward. Water only comes into play on two holes. The fairways are mostly flat.
Golfers can get into trouble in the desert areas bordering some holes, but as long as you're not too wild, the pain should be kept to a minimum. Big Rock Golf & Pub at Indian Springs is all about golf as a fun escape.
It's not a course that feels like it must make hackers prove something. The slope rating at this John Gurley Sr. design is 127 for men, 120 for women.

This Side of the Grass
Spring day in La Quinta. Course in good shape. Greens a little slow but rolled true. Green side bunkers great . Followed up with drinks and dinner at Big Rock pub.
Good round
Course and staff above average. Layout is good as well. Pace of play 4.5 hrs. About normal this time of year. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Greens were in good shape; tee boxes were in generally good shape.. Course layout required a funky transition from front 9 to back 9 through a busy street.
the only negative we have is the extensive need to keep crossing roads (and even main highways) to get to next hole, especially on first 9.. But the facility was extremely well groomed and maintained, and the greens were in outstanding condition.
All was good.
I booked with Golf Now and had a 12:45 tee time but the course insisted in was 12:52. How does that happen?

Tees, fairways and greens very good ! Dormant rough a little rough! Lucky to make a hole in one! No special recognition from the pro shop! Always a fun course to play!
