The Course at Wente Vineyards

We usually play Wented 6-8 times a year and have always enjoyed it. This past week however was a little different. It was extremely backed up. Eventhough we told the gentlemen behind us they insisted on hitting up on us and continued to try to push us when there was nowhere for us to go. We told the marshall and he said that they were members and not very friendly. By the end of the round I was ready to fire a couple balls back at them. Great course, great staff, stuffy and arrogant members.

A Challenging and great course, definitely one of the top courses in the San Francisco Bayarea

I could play here everyday. it's beatiful and challenging

Staff was great and helpful. Course was in top condition. Challenging but not overly difficult. Lots of variation in each hole. Never boring in layout.

Challenging layout. To fully enjoy the course play from the correct tees. Good conditions, greens have subtle breaks nothing crazy. Great Views, lots of elevation changes and can be breezy but the fairways are generous. Pace of play was good. Slower foursome let us play through. Great food at the 19th hole / restaurant. Not cheap but a pretty good value.

Played the aeration special for $85. Greens were rough but rest of course was in good shape.
Whites are too easy so play from the blues.
Take a cart since transition on back nine requires a huge hike up.
Get there early if you want to utilize the driving range since it out in goat country.
Some risk/reward shots but not unfair like The Bridges in San Ramon.

It was Easter and I think the rain scared everyone away. Ben got me started at 9:30 as a single and I never caught up with the group ahead of me. A great day on a great course.

Very tough course, definitely need to play here a few times before you start learning the greens and hitting better approach shots & shots around the green. Not much to complain about though. I just can't give it a Value because it's still kinda expensive. It's hard for me to say any course is worth $75. We got it for $50 I think. Good news is that you get free range balls (which is nice) and the range is gorgeous. Definitely a tough tough course to play in the wind!!

Around the greens, rough, fringe and especially the sand traps were absolutely perfect.

Beautiful facilities and a very nice drive out there.

Wente is tucked into the hills with vineyards lining the fairways. It's a beautiful course, nice changes of elevation, extremely well maintained, and overall a terrific experience. This is a course you would take out-of-town friends to when you want to show off Bay Area golf.

Only downside was pace of play on a weekend afternoon. Round took about 5 hours, but they were hosting a tournament / large group. Also looked like there were some rather slow hacks.. not sure if that's typical or not.

This course challenges all aspects of your game. Elevated tee shots provide tremendous views. A must play in the Bay area.

Wente is a wonderful course. Great views, from tee to green the course is in wonderful shape. And the bunkers, WOW amazing sand.

I could imagine if you play on a windy day Wente would play extremely difficult.

For the price, Wente is a wonderful deal.

Long ride up to the practice range so allow extra time when you get there. For all the hills it seemed like only a few holes played uphill. Lots of well groomed bunkers around greens. We liked the speed of the greens which weren't lightning fast. Very big difference from front to back tees. It's a "must play" bay area course.

Wente Vineyards is a very beautiful course with many of its holes on hill tops or sides. The course is very challenging, but fair. The big problem was pace of play. We played on a Weds and it took at or over 5 hours to play. We never saw a marshal during the round so we waited on every single shot. The problem was not even related to too many players. The two groups in front of us had the annoying habit of before every getting on the green, all four of them would walk up onto the green, look around, and then go back to their balls in the fairways. Alas no marshall could be found and we did not have our cell phones. Also their grill was very good but overpriced as a hamburger was $15.00.

My tee time was 11:45, so we got at site around 10:00.
We hit couple dozen of ball at driving range and stop over wine tasting room before start.
Greens need to maintain, but USD65- is great value anyway.

very friendly team, with free driving range it maybe the best course in the east bay, the visual is outstanding , the view at the base of Del Valle on #3 and a valley view at the top of #10, wow..

All but the sand traps were EXCELLENT. Sand was just tossed in & not packed(layered) Stepped in to one & the sand buried my foot. Like quick sand ONLY it was LOOSE sand

This course is a must play! Wonderful staff and great greens

Wente is a great course to play for both beginning and experienced golfers. Beautiful views and well-maintained all around.

Wente is "FIRST CLASS" for the Bay Area! The staff is very attentive from the bag greeters, pro shop staff, marshalls and finally the 19th hole staff - all were friendly while being professional. The course is in top condition. The greens are fast and roll true to the read. Gorgeous views are to be had from all holes. I only wish I lived closer to Wente in order to play it more often.

Have heard a lot about this course but never had the opportunity to play there until yesterday. Everything I had heard proved to be true: not the longest course (even from the blues) but the layout and topography make it very challenging. It is a fairly tight course but has some fantastic elevation changes, notably on some downhill par 3s. The course is in great condition: fairways groomed, bunkers perfectly sanded and I thought the greens were among some of the best I had played on: smooth rolls, well cared for and FAIR. Heard the summer makes it better when the vines have grown in.
