Dolphin Head Golf Course

This was my second time playing in as many years. The staff is amazing and I love the course lay out. Best value on this island

Well I wasn't expecting much but for the price it was really good. Greens were surprisingly true. Will be back.

Loved the course. It was in great shape, greens were fast but rolled perfect. We got a great rate and it was well worth the money. Couldn’t ask for better course conditions in mid-July, would recommend to a friend.

I played all four of the Hilton Head Plantation courses this week (Oyster Reef, Bear Creek, CC of Hilton Head, and Dolphin Head). They are all TOP-SHELF tracks.

I was a little concerned about Dolphin Head because the last time I played it, they were over-the-top adamant about their 4-hour round policy. Something's changed because the starter never mentioned it. The rangers never mentioned it. And, guess what? We finished our round In 3:57 (without ever feeling rushed)!

Conditions are PERFECT from teebox through green. Beverage cart was out and running on a Friday morning. Practice facilities are stellar.

This is private country club golf available for (limited) public play golf. DO NOT MISS OUT ON PLAYING THIS COURSE!

Definitely recommend playing Dolphin Head. They have everything you would expect from a Hilton Head Island course.

Been coming to the island for 20 years. Just learned of this course word of mouth. Wow, great track at a very reasonable price. Will definitely be back. Can’t wait to play it again!

Course is in good shape but very slick greens and pitiful sand traps. Cart guys are nice. Very rude Ranger threatened to force skipping a hole if we did not play faster. No groups were waiting on us and there was no reason for this other than the course double booking tee times on the front and back. Due to poor communication a second ranger told us the same thing less than a hole later. This ruined the next 3-4 holes for me as I waited for another ranger to appear. Other nicer courses with better amenities are available on the island. Go somewhere else

Overall well maintained course. Fun to play and not over the top difficult for first time play. You can find yourself in trouble though with plenty of bunkers and water. Staff was very informative and friendly! We'll definitely be back to play this course again!

We played this course about 5 days after they aerated it so we didn’t get a true feel for it. The layout was fine and IMO it would be good for the average golfer. Some water can make approach shots interesting but for the most part the course is very straightforward.

Course was great it’s the golfnow web site that is the problem. I attempted to contact customer service yesterday and the wait was an hour. There are other tee time services and I guess I will begin using them. My cell is8163053581 if anyone should want to assist.

Beautiful golf course. There were some holes that were a bit dried out.

A nice course. It has a good layout and the course was in good shape. There was a little wait on shots on the back nine. Overall, an enjoyable experience

I used to enjoy this course, but feel it has gone down hill over the past 5 years. At one time it was in great shape, but it has continued to decline. The greens are firm, but minimal grass. The fairways are not much better. A once thriving private course has gone semi private in an effort to probably gain finances to care for the course. It will be a few years before I plan to return as it is not cheap to play here. So for the value based on quality, there are many better places to play on the island. Also the pace of play here was extremely slow at 5 hours, even though they stress their goal is to maintain 4 hours.

Enjoyed playing. Pace of play was a little slow but considering it was spring break on one of few nice days this week it wasn’t bad. Layout and condition was great. Greens were in great shape and very true. I will definitely come back.

Layout: Like many Hilton Head courses, Dolphin Head is in a plantation with lots of houses. Most holes have houses on them, but it doesn't feel like the course is cut through them. There are a few narrow holes, but overall it feels like the houses were built around the course not the other way around. Each hole was unique and there was a mix of doglegs, bunkers, and water.

Conditioning: The course was in good shape from tee to green. A lot of the rough was dormant, like most courses in Hilton Head right now, but the fairways were in better shape than most the courses we have played this trip. The greens were not as grown in as the other three courses we played already. The other courses have had perfect greens, but the greens here were still somewhat brown and a bit thin on some holes. They rolled very true, but the ball never seemed to stop rolling; even uphill.

Overall, we really enjoyed the course. We felt the layout was really good given the plot of land they have, the course was in solid shape on the whole, and it was a good value at $60/player.

A joy to play. Great layout, played the blues, a joy to play. Greens very fast and true. Thank you for a wonderful round!

Enjoyable course in good condition. Fast greens (had too many 3 putts!!). You get close to the ocean on one of the holes. Would like to play here again. Need to book directly with the course next time to check into their specials.

Course layout was simple and relatively easy. Would not recommend for the serious golfer, much better suited for seniors.
