Golfer Reviews
Could use some grass
Greens were okay but around the fairways was a little love.
Summer Golf=dead grass
We like this course but…now it’s summer and most of the courses look horrible! Lots of dead fairways and playing on hard dead grass. They had recently plugged and aerated so they had the guys out with multiple leaf blowers blowing off the plugs! So until those were gone we had to play through the plugs x 3 holes! This made a mess of the greens so those were bumpy! Bunkers in the desert are never sand-go figure! Probably won’t play at this course for awhile until it perks up a bit!
Great practice range and a playable course
The course is in great summer shape and a good value for the money. Beware of the winding canal through the course but there is plenty of room and no goofy holes.
Pace was slow , burned out area but still a good day
Ranger needs to be more active…sitting in the shade does not keep the pace of play moving along. Open holes should never be allowed.
Green: in good shape and very consistent. They even held your ball on the green when you went for the flag.
Fairways: burnt in a lot of areas
Fringe: lots of pellets from aeration
Sand traps: rough…crispy. Need to be power raked
Rough: thin in some areas but not unfair
Staff: helpful and friendly
It was a good day.
Good Value
Was happy with pace of play and the course for the money
Mediocre
The pro shop staff were very rude and one even refused to help ring customers out even though there was a line claiming he was “busy”.
All other staff were nice and friendly.
Conditions were fair, but fairways on some holes are in serious need of work.
Greens were challenging but fun.
Pace of play was great, not sure if that’s more due to summer months though.
Always a good track
Dobson never disappoints. Greens, tee boxes, rough, bunkers, and most fairways are solid. A few of the fairways are dying off a bit. Overall always a great track to play. Played in just under 4 hours.
Best M-Th value in the East Valley
The management of this course is outstanding and they are constantly improving every aspect of the golf experience. The course has a nice layout and is very flat. That is a plus for me but maybe not appreciated as much by low handicappers. The fairways and traps are well maintained. I've been playing this course since 1978. It has never been better. It has been a lot less expensive in the Winter season so I usually play elsewhere until the M-Th greens fees come down. Weekend price are always relatively high so I usually play elsewhere on Friday's. I play 3 times a week and it could be my Mon. and Wednesday course until the Fall if only they would let you book 30 days out.
Give it a try. You won't be disappointed.
Best Value
Can’t beat their sunset week day deal! I went and was able to play 14 holes with my dad for $15 including cart. Great staff, great course! All around great experience! I will be back many more times with my dad this summer.
Not impressed
I think this course is hyped too much. Good marketing efforts, but not excited to go back. Not sure if it's true but my friend noticed that some area were turf, not real grass. Some holes have these metal decorations that affects your game and the map is not accurate either on my smartwatch or the scorecard they put in the carts. There are creeks or water that are not visible. Some holes are displayed to be straight but then it's a dog leg.
Big changes in the last 7 years!
I was pleasantly surprised at the amazing driving range they have installed since the last time I was here! I only wish they spent some of that money on their greens! Worst greens I’ve played on in a long time. There wasn’t really any grass on them and they were extremely fast because of that. The fairways were also rough in places on a number of holes and the fairway bunkers were rock hard. Played as a solo with 2 pretty cool guys, so we had a fun day regardless
Chaos
Front nine of the course was great. Moderate pace of play. Back nine was absolute chaos, we had groups jumping in front of us after we teed off. It was pretty much a free for all. Kind of surprising because the starter was on top of things on the front nine. And to add to the madness, our cart died on hole 18.
Hello u314163721697,
Thanks for sharing your feedback!
Our entire 18 hole course is real grass, with the exception of one patch of artificial turf which is located behind the 12th green where a bridge connects the cart path to the green side area. This was installed during some maintenance for that bridge to help with accessibility. There are some other areas around our driving range that have also been converted to artificial turf for water conservation purposes, but those areas are not in play.
As for the map on the scorecard, it sounds like we failed to explain that it is not a complete map of the course but just a map of the green on each hole. It is intended to show possible pin locations on a given day. I can understand how this would cause some confusion and I apologize that we didn't clarify that point.
I hope this helps clarify some of the confusion and I hope you do come back to give us another chance. If you have further questions please call me on my cell phone at (925)-980-1006 and I'd be happy to help!
Best,
Andrew Frazier
