Dobson Ranch Golf Course

While many golf courses have jacked up their rates to stupid amounts, Dobson Ranch has kept their green fees at a reasonable rate. Course is very good shape, save for bunkers and tees which can be quite firm (I actually had to use wooden tees). Nice layout that can be challenging, especially the day we played as it was quite windy. Only three sets of tees. White tees, which play at 6200 yds and change (middle tees) can be quite challenging for the high handicapper. Many greens have some undulation and were fast. Putting and chipping facilities. Also golf trac video system (like indoor golf simulator except it is outside). If playing, strongly suggest that you use coloured balls on 9th, 11th and 18th holes as they are very close to the driving range and you will save yourself a lot of time trying to find finding your golf ball. We really enjoy tis course and play it whenever we can.

A nice, challenging course. Pace of play was a little slow even though we were the third group out.

The course is a lot of fun. Some challenging holes but also very fair.

The staff in golf shop is very friendly and helpful.

It’s always a treat to play at Dobson. The staff are great, course was in good shape and the beverages after hit the spot.

Our Men's League plays at Dobson Ranch once per month and we plan on continuing that practice in the Summer. We like everything about the course....We are always welcomed when we drop off the clubs...the Pro Shop personnel are always cheerful, joke with us and get us in and out. When we walk up to Dobson, there is music and a cheerful atmosphere. Although most don't like hitting off mats on the range, they do a great job helping us set up the track masters.

The course is well kept, the Ranger works hard to keep golfers playing at an acceptable pace. Good value for the dollar.

DRGC is in very good playing condition. Tee boxes were level, though could use more watering to soften tee entry. Fairways were green and firm. Greens were hard and fast, with some being a little blotchy and bouncy. Sand traps had soft sand, though it’s depth should be deepened. Rough was a bit rough in places, with some standing water in places.. Pace was excellent (less than 4 hours), with 9 minute separation at start. Value was fair. Get out there and enjoy this course.

Could’ve played 18 but players in front were playing slow and riding cart up to greens bc he was a big guy. No one to put a rush on them to play or call to play through.

Great price! I mean this place is just super cool .

We golf Dobson Ranch 3X/week. We have had slow play rounds before on Friday's, and yet DR staff does nothing to resolve these issues. Many times they allow 5-somes to golf. On the first tee box today, the starter informed us that they were playing 9 holes in 2-hours, and 18 holes in 4-hours and 8 minutes. The course sent a group of 17 players out ahead of us (1-5-some, and 3-4 somes). We waited on every shot, and 4 of the 8 holes we golfed there were 3 groups waiting on the tee boxes (we walked off after 8-holes after being on the course 2 hours and 32 minutes, and still had not completed 9-holes yet!!!). We did get a refund for 9 holes, BUT the pro-shop advised they knew where the problem was, and they "asked" the group to speed up to no avail. So they can refund our money, BUT they would not ask the slow group to leave and refund their money, thereby speeding up play for the entire rest of the course. One has to question the management style to provide refunds, but not when it would solve the problem for the rest of the course. What are they thinking? We have 4 future rounds currently booked at DR, two booked by others, BUT we will be cancelling the 2 rounds we have booked ourselves rather than give our green fees to a course that clearly does NOT care about pace of play, ONLY money! Save your hard earned money and give it to a golf course that respects the #1 issue in golf today... PACE OF PLAY!

Playing at 8:18 in March for only $66 after tax thanks to the Ranch Card at a course of this class is unheard of. Starter and cart girl were upbeat and great to interact with. I will likely golf here many times a year.

I’ve played this course on and off for 10+ years. The ambiance is certainly…different. From grabbing your clubs out of your car to walking into the pro shop, there’s upbeat pool party music. Everywhere you turn there’s offers to save via the Ranch card, TopTracer range ads (cool features but becoming more of a TopGolf than driving range for pre-round warm up, about 10-15 slots are first come first serve) and even an on-site food truck ready to quench your thirsty Thursday. 3~4 practice greens of various sizes. The starter was handed a difficult hand with people showing up late but man was he awfully rude for no reason. And with his comment “I’ve been doing this for 4 years, I know what I’m doing” I can assure you, he didn’t. I was a single who got paired with a 4some. Yes, he made up play as a 5. We kept pace for awhile except on the 10th hole which is adjacent to the range and makes you feel like a range target with how many balls fly into the fairway. By the 11th we were told to pick it up. We did. All good. But we’re a 5some keeping up with a 3some in front. Course conditions were fine, they’ve definitely been better. Staff is fine, has been better. Pace of play was 4 hours and just over 20 minutes, again…has been better. Their money maker seems to be the toptracer attraction. If you’re a mesa resident, worth the money. If not…probably not.
