About
The golf course at the San Marcos Golf Resort boasts an impressive list of past players that includes presidents and celebrities. The golf course is nestled on a property in downtown Chandler that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Although it has a desert landscape, the course is still lush with a canal that runs through it, a lake, and plush Bermuda grass greens, the former two creating water hazards that come into play on several holes. The San Marcos Golf Resort course is challenging with each hole having at least three bunkers. The two most difficult holes on the golf course are two lengthy par 4s, the fourth and the 10th.

Morning view down the Par-5 5th fairway. A strong drive, especially to the center-right fairway, sets you up to go for the green in two! Photo submitted by vmustang on 04/25/2021

Golfer Reviews
Good value for Dec AZ golf
Very good value. The area must have received rains as the course was a bit wet, many bunkers had water in them. Overseed has the course in good green conditions. Greens were in good shape a bit slow likely due to the rains. Staff was very helpful and polite.
Late start becomes 5 hour round
Checking in an hour early I was never told there would be a 25 minute late start , or the range conditions would be off, they just took my money.
Ranger was seen early but never heard from and the last 5 holes which took 2 hours to play we never saw a ranger until after we finished. The two groups ahead of us had several open holes…both groups had been over served and became highly intoxicated. The courses main focus was getting folks drunk thus competing in golf was not the staffs priority. The layout is the perfect set up to get people good and drunk!
If a competitive match is desired don’t visit here numerous noises in congested areas around bar/ food shack and very dangerous parallel fairways on the finish holes!
Driving range is a joke, fake balls and irons only.
Great course
Course is always in great shape and staff is nice and helpful.
Nice Course
You'll definitely enjoy this course. Off the 13th tee box, you'll see the home owned once by Al Capone. Historic to say the least. The course is laid out nicely, and captures the surroundings with style.
Classic Course
Staff was great, course was in good condition. The problem is that there are no sprinkler heads with yardage, no 100,150, or 200 yard markers. It would be simple to install. Prefer Western Skies where the carts have GPS
Played on a busy saturday, pace of play got slow on the back 9. Finished in 4h20min. Nice layout, bunkers had sand in them, greens were ok. Staff was very friendly.
