Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Just A Great Day
I am 78 years old and do not play near as much as I used to. I had the opportunity on 6-27-17 to go to Willow Creek with my son who due to work schedule gets to play very little. We were matched up with two other very enjoyable golfers and we thoroughly enjoyed the day. Golf now makes it easy for golfer like my son and I to get out and play occasionally. We will play again sometime and the course and courteous acts of the staff at Willow Creek will be remembered.
Best course I've played in SC
If this course was closer I'd become a member. Well maintained. Staff was cool. Golf facilities were great. Greens were sneaky. Faster than they look. Mix of easy and hard holes. Best course I've played out of the 50+ in played in SC. Would have liked seen tee times spread out a little more. Was slow due to popularity of the course.
Nice Afternoon
Course was great but slow due to tournament. It was beautiful afternoon so slow play was not too aggravating.
Loved the course, well groomed and cared for. excellent greens and fairways. Personnel were very good!
Nice course slow play
Pace was slow waited on every shot! Marshal tried to speed up group with two open holes in front but not until halfway through back nine
Well Kept Golf Course
This was the first time I played this course and I wish I had played there sooner! The greens were in great shape and overall the course was in much better shape than many area courses. I will be back!
This course is usually in better shape
For some reason the greens were in pretty rough shape on several holes which had gouges and other large areas of non green like conditions. Other than that the course was in decent shape but not up to it's normal condition.
second try
I think for what you pay it's time to replace the greens. This is the second time i've played this course and the greens were shotty at best. Putts bounced so we played with automatic 2 putts. I know the weather plays a big role in recovery time from punching greens but a month is a little too long (used to work a golf course in the late 90's and kinda know what I'm talking about). I love playing Tom Jackson designs but there are other courses in the area that are less expensive with better surfaces. It's time to upgrade.
Greens
The greens still show signs of aeration making putting difficult.
Price for conditions left a little be desired
The grass was dormant which was to be expected for this time of year. However, the aerated greens were terrible and took away from the experience as putting was all but pointless. For $50, it wasn't a great value... better options in the area.
Staff was Grumpy
Booked our tee time (2:40 p.m.) through a 3rd party and we arrived at the course about an hour early. There were 2 twosomes scheduled to tee off in front of us. We asked if we could be paired up with the 2:20 twosome and were told no by the started/ranger because we had booked our tee time through a 3rd party. I'm puzzled to understand how and who we paid our green fees to has much of anything to do with pairing us up and getting us out earlier than our original tee time. We were there, ready to play and thought we could get started a little early on a busy Friday afternoon.
The carts had to be returned by 7:15 and we made it by the skin of our teeth.
And, by the way, for some reason the course staff did not pair up the 2 twosomes that played in front of us.
Oh Well, a nice day to play with some new friends, Tony and Andrew.
Great Play at Willow Creek
This course has some great playing holes with plenty of long and challenging par 5's. Still open enough for beginners so you don't lose too many balls.
