Willow Creek Golf Course
About
Situated between Greenville and Spartanburg, Willow Creek Golf Course is a favorite course amongst many area players. The course has a classic layout that starts out gently with a player-friendly front nine but then becomes much more challenging on the back nine. The layout is a seemingly mild 6,890 yards from the back tees but it can feel longer because of all the elevation changes you'll encounter. It's a golf course that will appeal to beginners but advanced players will also enjoy the many risk-reward opportunities that can be found throughout. Water hazards come into play on eight holes and there is a slew of strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. The par-5 fifth hole is Willow Creek Golf Course's signature. This 516-yard hole tumbles across rolling hills with a stream that cuts right through the fairway.

Course needs work
Usually a great course, but this time greens were horrible. Dead spots, unrepaired ball marks, and evidence of invasive grass? Course gets overplayed. Due for aerification in a week and boy does it need it!
pleasant layout
A overall good day. The clubhouse staff and starter were very friendly and efficient. The course was is good shape. There were many old ball marks on the green but mostly repaired well.
Great coarse
This was not my first time here. We always know the coarse will be in top notch condition that's why we don't hesitate to book online.
Perfect Yardage -- Incrediablity Playable
Love this course. The weather was 85 degrees with low humidity (for upstate South Carolina). This is an immensely playable course. Forgiving fairways and from the white tees, not to long (5900 yds). The greens were experiencing some stress. Coming from a course in the Piedmont of NC with re-sprigged fairways (after the winter kill), it was quite a pleasure to play on great conditions. The senior price was great for a Friday morning. Had 6 birdies and shot 71. Too many bogies!!!
a well-maintained challenge
I always look forward to a round at Willow Creek. The lay out seems to suit my game and the course is always well maintained. The practice facility is spacious with areas not only for long play, but a chipping and sand area as well as the putting green. The greens are bent and the brutal weather we've had has taken its toll along with the way too many players who don't repair their pitch marks.
Great course to play after prime time!
The playability of the course is great! I played it for the second time yesterday (the first being back in 2010) the facilities have flourished and I had a great time! Now, the stuff everybody else puts on these reviews sites, THE UGLY. I am a partially guilty party in this I cannot assign any blame without taking some of the weight myself. My issue was not being ready to tee off on time due to misplacing an item not really needed to golf (my cell phone). However the range master managed to shuffle me and my partner around to get us back on track that was a huge positive. The negative was they place us between foursomes and we were a pair this they did consciously which caused our play to "bottleneck" where we were too fast for the group ahead and the foursome behind us were practically on top of us because the group ahead would not let us play through. Just a bit of better organization and I would give this place five stars! A lot of people complained of slow greens but they were really good on this trip.
Enjoyable time
The weather was hot and although this makes the greens more susceptible to ball marks (plenty on the greens) they putted quite well. Tee off time was noon and we completed the round in 3 hours.
I believe the ditch that crosses #5 could be cleaned better as the ball can bounce into it (hidden from view). The only complaint I have is that the sand in the traps is not consistent. One might be like powdered sugar (this I don't like for obvious reasons), another normal textured, and another a combination. To remedy this I need to not be in them!
Overall, had a good time and will be returning after I work on sand shots.
Best course for the cost
Compared to courses that will cost the same or slightly more, this course is far and beyond better. The greens were a little rough the last time playing there but this is a rarity. Overall the layout of the course is great, challenging enough to make you work for it but easy enough to relax and enjoy your time.
Haughty, not worth it.
The mood at Willow Creek was very haughty. Surprising, as the ill repair of the greens did not really justify such snootiness.
The course is nice, but bad greens and bad attitudes towards the public did not welcome us.
The Ranger was very rude to us, but neglected to say anything to the "member" that we had been paired up with, who was walking.
I won't be returning.
Great track
Course is always in great condition. Today the greens were a little slow but still overall great.
Love it
I really enjoy the place at times players want to rush you why I don't know it's golf calm down and take it easy
Fantastic Conditions
Last time i played Willow Creek the greens were a little rough, but they have made a come back. The guys i invited kept commenting on how great course conditions were since the last time they played. Would recommend the starter be at the first tee to regulate pace of play though, guys line up and just wait till group ahead moves. But this just creates a back up on next holes depending on pace of play of the groups ahead, so a little regulation of when to go off would be helpful.
Nice technical course
The grass in the fairways and greens was in great shape. My twosome finished right at 4 hours which was great. I wouldn't pay full price rates for it, but discounted rates is worth it.
Great local course
This has always been my go-to course when I feel the need to complete a loop. The course was in terrific shape for early in the season. The only "negative" which is somewhat out of their control is that the close tee times can sometimes drastically slow pace of play if 2 or 3 groups in front of you start playing poorly. The course can't prevent poor play, just making a point...I think the times are only spaced 8 minutes.
All in all, though, this is a great local course to the Greenville/Spartanburg area and I'll continue to go back.
Nice course
I play Willow Creek fairly regularly. Course conditions were very good for this time of year. Much better than the course I played last weekend. Staff is very friendly. I'll definitely continue to play there!
Good Course
I have played the course before and it seems in good shape. The greens had been punched and they were rough.
Willow
Greens had been punched a few weeks back and still unputtable. Will be back later as this really is a great course.
Great Sunday Round
Great round. The course is fun to play and has some challenge to it. Great value for what you get compared to most golf courses in the Greenville area.
Bad condition, unfriendly staff
Staff was unfriendly when we arrived, course was in bad shape & very open which made the wind that much worse, we played 3 holes in one hour & play was very slow
