About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

All Dry outside of fairways
Fairways was too narrow and the grass was dry everywhere outside of fairways. Not enough grass on green.
Good for the price
Fairways and greens were ok. Roughs could use water. We kept up with the group ahead but twice the group behind hit in to us. Saw no Marshall during our play
Best greens around
Greens are perfect. Fast and true. Enough trees on the course to make you hit fairways.
I'll play this course over and over again.
Pace of play is biggest drawback.
Starter is nice touch but not if they don't make the effort to pair up twosomes especially when also allowing 5 player groups. Couldn't make a ballmark on any green so they also wouldn't hold any approach shots. Not worth the drive.
Pretty decent course but needs work
Layout is decent, conditions were decent. However, this course really needs more cart paths and better sinage and hole to hole directions.
I have been playing this course the last 6 years and every time I play it, it reminds me of a struggling muni course,
Slow slow slow
Our tee time was 11 19 am teed off at noon finished round at 6 pm waiting at every hole worse time ever never will play here again
Frost delay
Played this course plenty of times before and never had any issues till now. Showed up 45 mins before our tee time and advised about a frost delay. Didn't tee off till 45 after our original time. Play was so slow that day that we called it after 2 and a half hours later just for 9 holes. Talked to the guy at the pro shop if any kind of reimbursement or discount could be done and told us there's nothing he could do.
Great greens
The course was in very good condition. The greens were lightning fast and true. The pro and the bag boy were very friendly. We had a really good time and the weather even cooperated with the course.
Horrible
First, the pace was every hole was backed up by 2 groups.Never understand why. The greens had 50% actual grass the rest was sprayed green sand which made them like putting on concrete. 50% of the fairway was actually fairway because I think you need grass to have a fairway. This course is getting run into the ground and looking at the pro shop it is running down their inventory. Either this course is going to get sold or closed. It needs a million bucks invested just to make it playable.
Packed
Unfortunately we ran into a frost delay that morning which lasted an hour or so, we didn’t tee off until 1pm, so I grumble with a bit of a caveat. There were lots of foursomes out there so pace would expect to be slow however the prebooked 5-some in front of us was terrible. With obvious beginner players in front and the experienced Dad teaching the daughters was frustrating to say the least. They finished 18 holes a 2 full holes behind, which sounds almost ok, except it was already slow so keeping up should have been easy. No marshals on course, and a warning from the starter about the 5some before we teed off. So why allow the 5 players on a single tee time to begin with. They should have let us go ahead and could have at 18 different tee boxes, but they didn’t know any better so our attempts to sneak past fell on deaf ears. I don’t appreciate golf courses that penalize the public for booking pm tee times to save a few bucks then send the beverage cart and course marshals home early. It’s clear at 99% of courses that if u pay less you get less. Well tell that to the 500 courses that go bankrupt every year.. Ty needed those pm tee times
Good for the price
This was our first round after a long winter. Booked it to get the rust off. Course is good for the price we paid. Greens were excellent.
