Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Family outing
Course was a great tune up before dropping lots of money on the famous courses around the area.
Good value, but soooooo slow
This is a good course and in much better shape than the last time we played it. But they really need a ranger on the course to move things along. First, a foursome and a twosome of friends joined together so they were playing as a SIXsome for about five holes until someone called the pro shop and said what the heck? A fellow rode out on a cart and split them up, but pace of play had pretty much ground to a halt already. Then another foursome slowed things down again so badly that there were two full open holes ahead of them. Yes, people can play poorly, but please play poorly FAST so the rest of us do not have to wait on every. single. shot. It did not help that the rules for the day were no carts in the fairway.
No water to drink
It's Tres Rios or Estrella Mountain, same place. 3:45 min round as a foursome of average golfers. There is no water on this course to drink. I need my H2O
Where are your markers?
It was hard to find markers on the ground. The fairways were kept somewhat, some were sort of hard. Thanks for the hole signs, that helped tons or else it would have been a nightmare. Ballwash locations were inconsistent. Frustrating to play with muddy golf balls. Cart path hard to follow, there is none. Some signs were posted as to where not to ride on but not marked clearly. Overall, average. Not a fan of open courses.
This course has some issues
Sorry to say....the course is in terrible shape. You can't walk anywhere on the course that is flat without holes and it's so uneven you should be using ATV's to get to each hole!! Several greens had some type of black stuff on them and were not in good shape at all. We used to enjoy playing here, but not so much, now.
Tres Rios
We were not warned that it was cart path only. This should have been done through golf now! The rough had not been cut for awhile, this slowed play a lot. Couple of greens not in good condition.
good price
The course conditions were poor and the grass between the fairway and the putting green was over grown and in terrible condition. I lost 1 sleeve of balls in first three holes on the back nine due to overgrown and dead grass next to and between fairways. Hard to discern where each hole is and the direction in which you should be aiming for. Overall the price was the only attractive part of this course and that was the price on golfnow.
Improved Course
Facilities the same with driving range on the mats and a putting green that is not level. Staff very nice and good rates. Course has improved with decent fairways and they are watering the greens so now they will hold your approach shots. Will be back.
garbage course
dont waste your money on this piece of garbage course. I have never seen it in such bad shape. it can not believe they charge money to play here. the worst course in phoenix
Worst course ever played in AZ
I have never complained about a course in AZ but this course was soooooooooo bad it was funny! Dirt fairways.......dirt ruff.......dry to the bone!........white tees positioned like a par three course? You had no idea where to hit from tee boxes...... Greens at best fair.....played charity event and people who ran the event looked embarrassed at the facility.......burger after was raw uncooked....beans were almost like a prison soup.....lady behind counter made sure that we understood that refills of soda were only free today like I was ever coming back there to play.......truly worst course I have ever played.......they should really be embarrassed of there facilties......would go to castle and coasters and play miniature golf before I ever spend a dollar at this place.....took me an hour to clean my bag and shoes with all the dust and muck!!! Felt bad for cart girl she was really nice and also looked embarrassed after seeing our reaction to course.
Great location
Always enjoy playing here. The course is very well maintained.
99 degrees .........
99 degrees and they did not have a beverage/food cart working the course. Ran out of sandwiches at the clubhouse. Lately seems to be the standard of this course!!!
golfing with friends
Tres Rios Gc was very playable the only bad thing about course there was no beverage cart person they said they were under staffed.
Moderate course but slow play
Overall the course was not in too bad of shape. It's what you expect from an 18 dollar green fee. The pace of play was horrible. I booked a tee time for the so called " fast play promotion " , but they started me on the back as a single behind a 4some. It was frustrating. This is not a single rider friendly course.
Tres Rios
Course was in good shape, the rough a little longer than usual, due to some rain we've had recently. Greens rolled fair.
Lots of trees tell you to better stay in the fairway, and if you do, scoring is going to be good.
only problem I had> my Golf/Buddy GPS had problems finding the course. Manual search impossible, as for some reason course still runs under former name.
good value
gps on carts very helpful restrooms need serious work very respectable for price folks that expect considerably more for the price are living in lala land!
This course is terrible
The worst golf course I've played in my life. It is diffccile to find the holes and fairways are planted. This course should disappear from the landscape.
Save your money
Don't play this course, unfriendly staff, poor conditions. Just a poor experience in general.
hit it strait
this course gives the opportunity to work on your shot shaping with dog-legs both right and left. it can be a fun course but sometimes challenging
