Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Nice layout.
Good municipal course. Greens in good shape. I'm adding more words because the web site did not like a short review!
Good rolling greens
I love to get the chance to play some of the older mature golf courses when I get the chance. This courses I think was built in the 60's and has had it's up's and down's, but I would have to say it is one of the best old courses I have played in the valley in the last four years. Great value for the money, very good condition and for not having a starter and not seeing a ranger the pace of play was ok. With it's tree lined fairways you can't hit big bending draws or fades and if you shape your shot to match the fairway you will be rewarded with a open look at the green. The fairways and rough were well maintained and the bunkers were above average for most courses I play. Putting was fast, but rolled true every hole. Great fun and I look forward to playing it again.
This course is diverse. Each hole is different, no two holes are alike.
The tee boxes need extensive work. The course seem to have too much water applied to it. The greens were hard to read, you didn't know whether to stick the greens or allow for roll out with the amount of water that was applied to them. The greens were very fast, where you would think they might be slow with the water that was applied to them. The temperature was not that hot or had it been earlier in the week. I've seen the course in better shape, and I've seen it in worse. The fairways were muddy in spots, with casual water located in various locations.
fun course
course worse codition past couple of years possible past frost or irragation but very dry and bumpy ride. no rangers no golf cart lady glad i brought my own water, i guess you get what ya paid for for sure, cheapest around town.
Not a great course but nice enough to be challenging on some holes. Pace was slow at times
Consider this to be a fifty/fifty course. Some Tee Off areas and Greens are very good, other not so good and need attention. Water comes into play on a few holes and can present a challenge, otherwise the course is fairly easy to play. The pace can be slow at time, but we played in the afternoon was priced appropriately for the condition of the course and time toplay
Very nice experience
I always love playing here. Staff is great and the course is one of the best in tha area. Scenery is fantastic. The greens are fast and fairways pristine.
fast greens
Course still needs to address tee boxes, worst ive seen. Fairways are good and wide but miss it and your guess is as good as mine what type of lie you'll end up with if it doesmt end up in a groundhog hole. The greatest feature of Tres is allways the greens, superfast and well taken care of,being above the hole is a serious nono. On in two off in three if not carefull so use their gps system on carts which are very accurate to your advantage. Bunkers are much better then in the past, consistant sand in all. Overall the round was good and the pace of play was also good ,just alittle over 4 hrs .
Usually have great greens
Greens were too hard and slow. Animal mounds and uneven lies in the fairways need attention. Tees too long for women. Need an intermediate set of tees for seniors. Give involved with move it forward on your course. Play is always slow on this course. Traps are good. Poor job of overseeding.
Course is in great shape.
Greens run true. Several looks to test use of most clubs in your bag as well as doglegs left and right. Pace can be slow due to prices this time of year. This is great value for this time of year.
Tres Rios
did not see the beer cart until the 10th hole. Could have made some money on beer. Also my cart the gas pedal stuck and had no brakes. I called them and they said they did not have a replacement one at that time. told me I could walk. Not an option for me. I am a disabled Iraq vet with a service dog.
Will I go back. Since they are 3 miles from my house sure. Staff is not very friendly. Course was slow play. They have never had a ranger on the course to move people along.
Tres rio
Nice little layout needs some work , tee boxes are the worst I have played in a number of years fairways are overgrown but it is a good vaiue for this time of year.
Great Value
This course was a great find in the otherwise expensive Phoenix golf market. I agree with other posters that the areas off the fairway can be a little too spotty, but where there is grass it is very well kept. Greens are in great condition with few ball marks, roll true. Seems like they are very slippery down-hill but slower than would be expected going up-hill. Overall a very playable course with a nice GPS included on the carts.
Slow play for a Monday, but 4.5 hours not too bad
Men's t boxes need some work, pretty barren no grass
The course layout is confusing. More directional signs to tee boxes are needed.
The back nine fairways are too rough to drive the carts on and to rough to hit from.
Good Course
Very good course layout. Have lots of trouble with little critters digging holes. Greens were fantastic (firm, fast and your ball rolls as true as anywhere). Pin positions make this a tough layout. Overall I would return to play often as the price of play was the best out there.
Good value and getting better
We played at Tres Rios after not having played here for two years and were pleasantly surprised at the improved condition of the golf course. The greens were far better than I remember and the fairways much improved. The course is still 'tight' in a few areas and would benefit from heavier rough between holes to prevent stray shots from going into adjacent fairways. Friendly, accommodating staff is a bonus.
Great course for all levels
The last time I played this course (about two years ago), it required some major attention. This time, however, it was in very good shape and you could really notice the improvements. The greens were very good and some were quite challenging. The fairways were excellent but you needed to plan your shots well or you could be in trouble...if you hook or slice straighten it out before you play. Overall for the low to mid handicaps, you'll really like the course.
Greens in good condition
Greens in good condition but fareways need attention. Overall good course to play and price is average for winter play.
