Junior National Golf Club
About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Great value, good for beginning to intermediate players.
This was my first attempt at a full-size 18-hole course, and I was particularly drawn by the GolfNow "Hot Deal" rate. There are only a few water hazards and elevation changes, but almost all holes are lined with trees. Fairways, bunkers, and greens were in good shape. Greens were pretty fast, especially the practice green. However, the rough was full of gopher holes. Cart paths are not well defined, which leads to a bumpy ride.
priced accordingly
ok course very close fairways ball being pick by other players if you happened to play close to next fairway??? some dry out grass here and there very challenging greens very fast
This is a great course for beginner to intermediate players.
Great course! We went really early in the morning so it was not crowded at all. The value for the course was great
This course has some good holes and some short par 5's which are easy to reach in 2. greens are hard this time of year but roll fair.

shade for the summer
Great shape, best in ten years. Many dead trees removed, greens and fairways in wonderful condition. Excellent value.
golf now had a great value.I play this course oftenand its great to get a price break. Thanks golf now. R.O.

Nice course, mean greens, friendly staff
It's a nice course. One of the longer courses we've played. Good pace of play, didn't have to wait to play much. Course was well maintained.
Greens need some work but overy all was a good value for the money
The course was ok but pace of play was bit slow and the greens need work. in addition signage is poor and sometimes not clear on which hole is next on this park layout.
greens were good
slowest i have ever played and we were a twosome! they put too many twosomes out and didn't make foursomes. 15 minutes between holes.
Mediocre course; pace of play makes it very poor.
Typical muni type course, fairway edges pretty rough. Main complaint is that despite multiple calls to pro shop, pace of play was pathetic. One foursome ahead of us was allowed to play entire round with 2 full holes open in front of them. Course staff was totally non-responsive to the situation and we will never play here again.
Excellent Value!
I was able to get an 18 hole round at a full length golf course for less than most 9 hole executive courses in the Valley of the Sun. The value in this course is phenomenal!
Pros:
-Wide fairways
-Beautiful blue-green water in play
-Beautiful mountain vistas
-Course was in good condition
-Golf carts had GPS units in them
-Strategically placed water fountains
-Great pace of play!
Cons:
-Inconsistent speed on greens, the practice green could give Augusta National a run on the stimpmeter!
-Cart paths only partially paved
-Some desert/dirt areas
-Wayward tee shots often end up on other fairways
I really enjoyed my round at Tres Rios and look forward to playing there more often!
The course keeps getting better. You truly pay a penalty when you are in the rough. Fairways cut very short.
I think this is the best deal in town. The current management is really working hard on the course condition. Things to improve. Drinking water availability. Get the carts in better condition. Some have no parking brakes, and some are hard to start once out on the course. Greens are pretty good. Firm and fast. Traps have gone from no sand to possibly too much. Much better than a year ago. The view and the course location are great. Lots of mountains, wildlife, and NO HOUSES to hit.
Excellent golf value
I have played here a few times during "snowbird season" and this was in the best condition I've seen it. Greens fast, smooth and receptive. Fairways pretty lush. Some tee boxes needed a little care and the bunkers were WAY too full of fresh powdery sand. Overall a challenging but fair course. And at a golfnow hot deal of $15.00............................................need I say more.
The Course was not in Bad Shape.Enjoyed playing it.
The only problem I had was getting charged all the fees-and taxes using this service and when getting to the course we had to pay taxes again for the green fees.
greens were in good shape.
Greens were in good shape, the rest of the course is like being in a mine field.
Not My First Choice
Greens were in good shape. Fairways okay. Tee boxes need work and the course was very buggy. Number 3 had a sprinkler working. Overall not a bad course. I used to play it a lot when it was Estrella and I thought it was better then but not sure. I believe the course has been shortened as well. Not sure thought, don't remember exactly.
Great value, greens were good but a little rough in some areas
Played after lunch and it was quiet. We played at a good pace with no hold ups. The greens were a little slow but in excellent condition. Once you got used to speed they were great. Good value.
mature trees can cause difficulties
rough areas along the fairways, gopher holes and uneven ground.some tee boxes need work.can play tough because of the mature trees and blind approach shots.several holes play long.with a little tlc it could be an excellent course.look out for stray shots since holes play parallel to each other.
This course was a pleasant surprise, very mature trees, some tricky greens.
This was the first time I played Tres Rios. The maturity and quantity of trees was surprising as was the isolation from residential development. Even though the couse is short, the layout and green contours keep you honest. Some pin locations can make your knees weak when putting. the tee boxes coul dbe in better shape but they are better than many municipal course. The fairways and greens wer in good shape. The isolated feel made for a relaxing round. I'd recommend Tres Rios to the average to above average player.
