About
Junior National Golf Club (formerly known as Tres Rios Golf Course at Estrella Mountain Park and Estrella Mountain Golf Course) is rich with dense forestry including eucalyptus, mesquite, and pine trees as well as cottonwoods. The course has a parkland-style layout with rolling fairways lined with trees and undulating greens that are medium-sized and fast. To add more challenge to the golf course, water hazards and bunkers come into play on several holes. The par-4 seventh hole is considered the most difficult driving hole on the course. There are stately trees off the tee and the second shot is to a narrow sloping green. Junior National Golf Club features multiple tee boxes for a variety of different golfing options.

Greens in transition
The pace of play was a little slow with a foursome, followed by 2 twosomes, then my twosome. Took about 4 hours 20 minutes. I like the layout, although the greens are in the transition between the winter rye and Bermuda, so they weren’t in the best condition. However, the tee boxes and fairways are in nice shape. The course is doing a good job with social distancing and keeping people from touching objects.
First time playing here.. last time..
I truly hate be so negative, but the only good thing about this round was the gentleman I was paired with. We waited on every hole, and of course, no marshal to be found. The greens were terrible. The course layout is boring, and missing a shot put you on hardpan. There really was nothing good I can say about this course.

Challenging greens
Nice course. The pro shop took adequate social distancing measures but wipes were not available near the carts.

Good Day
Booked this round the night before due to the price, and couldn't really have asked for much more for the short notice and $30 fee. The course is a little rough in some areas, but overall, there really isn't anything to complain about. They also, showed that they care about their customers, by doing everything they could to minimize contact during this interesting time. Cups were up, which was interesting, but I like the idea. Doors were propped open to minimize touching handles and no signing receipts at the counter. I had a good day on the course and would recommend for anyone just looking to get out and play for cheap.

Course remains in good shape. taking all precautions regarding virus. Snack bar still available for sandwiches and drinks. Get out of the house and have some fun.

Not a course I'd play again
Very disappointed in this course. Fairways were rough, greens very rough, and. There are a ton far better courses to play in the Phoenix area of better value for the money.

Good course for the money, take my wife there to practice on her game. Good layout but the course conditions could be better.

Average course
Good course if you have a lot of time to spend on the course. Pace of play was slow, but course was in better condition then last year.

Tres Rios
The fairways are laid out to challenge the player and in really good shape. The greens are patchwork and fast. The holes are cut on any slant on the green surface. None of them are flat. The rough is shabby and nonexistent. The bunkers are hard and without sand making it tough to get under the ball.
The pace of play was such that you had to wait for at least one group at every tee box if not 2. It took 4.5 hours to play a round that should have taken 3.5.

Decent course in a scenic location
We played this course for the first time with some friends. We played 9 holes with carts. Overall the course was decent, but the condition of the greens was below average. Some greens were so rough and weathered that we had to move our golf balls to a smoother area of the green to be able to putt. The grass in the tee boxes and in the fairways was barely adequate, The mature trees between the fairways made the course somewhat challenging. Overall, for the cost and value, we enjoyed playing at Tres Rios. Our experience would have been better if the condition of the greens was better. The course attendant was very friendly and courteous (did not get her name)

Worth Playing
Glad we played this course. It is quite inexpensive to play so it is worth it. The greens are pretty quick until you putt across a patch of grass that is not thin like the rest of the green. Fairways are OK, but if you are off the fairway at all it is hard packed dirt/sand.

I had hope
It has been some time since I played Tres Rios and when I found the tee time and a 3 star rating I hoped to have a good time. Unfortunately the greens were bad shape and the better fairways could only make up a little bit. Adding to the problem is that we played only 15 holes in 4 hours and had to cut our round short for early evening activities. The other members of the group made the round very livable.
