Toka Sticks Golf Club

About
Unlike many other courses in Phoenix, the course at the Toka Sticks Golf Club was not done in a traditional desert-style. It is known amongst locals for having very fast greens, many of which are elevated. The old Toka Sticks course was originally a nine-hole course built in 1945 but in addition to making it an 18-hole, championship course, it has had many renovations in the years since to make it a more challenging and interesting course. There are stately trees present on the course call for straight shots in order to reach the narrow fairways. Two lakes are situated on the course that create water hazards that come into play on sever holes. There are also several well-placed sand bunkers throughout. Toka Stick Golf Club also offers a short game area, a putting green and a driving range.

Great value.
Tees, fairways and greens were in great shape. Beautifully maintained. Not a tough layout but that was the only less than 5 star.
Great value for decent course conditions
It’s been a few years since I’ve played this course but the conditions are very good overall. Some of the trees need some attention and removal but overall not a big concern. The new clubhouse and grill onsite are updated and modern in appearance adding to the appeal of the course. If you’re looking to get some playing time that won’t cost too much but give you an enjoyable round, look no further.
Good value
Not in bad shape, spots on the greens were bad in some places. Fairways in good shape. Pace of play real good 3 hours 20 minutes.
Course good and most of the staff great
Course for this time of year is in good condition. The check in staff and Jessie are great. The Marshall not so much. Needs training.
Good bang for your Buck
Course was in good condition for mid July . Staff here is always friendly and helpful . Could use some water on the course .
Crater Field
This place is on the verge of being the worst course in Arizona. Slowest pace of play I've had all year with everyone stacked on top of each other, took us 3.5 hours to finish the front 9. There is hardly any decent grass on the fairways or greens. The entire course has dirt patches and bald spots. They should be paying you to come to this place. Absolutely horrible.
Toka Sticks for the win
Received a great deal on golf now. Had a great time on this course!
I cannot imagine coming back
I took the t-time knowing the greens had recently been aerated, but I didn't know the rest of the course was on such trash condition. We literally had a rough time telling fairway from rough, and it didn't seem to matter. Some area were so dry, it was like hitting off the cart path while others were flooded and soggy. If I were superintendent of that course, I'd be embarrassed.
Bad
Knew something was wrong when we showed up for our 7:08 tee time and the place was empty.Normally this course is very busy.Staff very friendly but the good experience ended there.Couse was in the worst condition I have ever seen. All fairways were either burnt, muddy or just dirt. Rough was not taken care of or even cut and the green were UnPuttable not a smooth roll on the entire course Normally this course holds up well in the summer not this year. What a shame
Shame about the greens
It is too bad that the greens are terrible - otherwise course is in pretty good shape for this time of year. I have always like playing at Toka Sticks, but right now the majority of the greens are a wasteland. I had to select whether or not I would recommend this course to a friend. I only selected No because of the greens.
I find it interesting that a few recent reviews mention aerated greens, but didn't mention that almost all of the greens have large areas with no grass at all. Like disease has hit the greens. Hole 13 in particular only had grass on about 25% of the green. Luckily, they had the hole in an area where there was grass, but not sure how long the rest of the grass on the green will last if they only have a limited area to put the hole.
Always fun
this is our home course. It’s close to home and the people here are absolutely fantastic. It was a little sketchy on the greens because they had aerated but probably getting ready for maintenance. It’s usually in pristine condition.
Greens
Course was decent . But the greens were horrible . They were punched and a lot of top sand . Half the greens felt like a bunker.
