About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Disappointed
I signed up for this course based on some of the previous reviews and we were disappointed. The first 11 holes were not in very good shape. The last 7 holes were in better shape. I won’t be playing at this course in the future.

Fun Course
Good tee boxes and fairways were actually in good shape considering the rain we just had. Greens good but everything covered in leaves.

Reasonably price for the amenities. Needs new cart path. River between 8th & 9th hole needs garbage removed.

Nice City Course
Big fan of this course. I've been playing it for years. Nice layout, consistently kept in good condition year-round. Have to cross a ravine a few times but easy course to walk. Good value for the money.

Surprise at Cave Creek
I played this course several years ago and it was not in very good condition. This year the course was superb. Green fairways and greens. Greens were best that I have putted on since I got to Arizona. Coodoos to the course and staff

Best Shape this course has ever been in
I have played at Cave Creek quite a few times but today is the absolute best shape I have ever seen that course in. The fairways were green and well mowed and the putting greens were in really good shape. I don’t know if it is under new management or what but I was very impressed. Great golf for the money.

Playing the Cave Creek city golf course
My wife and I got a good price for playing at Cave Creek due to hot deal and a great monthly gift from GolfPass.
We were partnered with two singles, who were fun to play with. The course was busy with many mixed groups of 2, 3, 4 people. This turned out to be a real problem as the group behind us got impatient, and, started hitting into us. There was no ranger available, or came by to help...
I do not recommend this course until the starter(s), course management start grouping people into foursomes. This could have easily been done, but, wasn't.
Pace of play was 4.5 hours plus...
Course itself is wide open with a few holes that had water. On a 1-10 in terms of landscaping, condition of course, conditions of greens, I would give this course a 6-7..

Horrible cart paths
First time playing Cave Creek. Course layout is OK. Overall condition of the fairways, tee boxes, bunkers and greens was OK Cart paths were horrible, other than the limited concrete sections. Doubt we will be back to play this course for the price we paid.
