About
Cave Creek Golf Course is Phoenix's most popular municipal course, seeing about 100,000 rounds yearly. In 1983, Cave Creek began as a landfill reclamation project. It's a sort of pioneer in environmental design, proving similar spots can find environmentally friendly uses. It's open dawn to dusk, year-round.
Eighteen holes of par-72 golf take golfers over 6,732 yards on the Cave Creek Golf Course, kicking off on the par-4 first hole, which measures 363 yards from the blue tees, before things get long on the second hole, which measures 510 yards from the blue tees. That's just one of four long holes, with the sixth hole measuring 532 yards from the blue tees, the 11th coming in at 521 yards from the blue tees, and the sixth having a distance of 518 yards from the blue tees. The round concludes after a suggested playing time of four hours and 10 minutes on the 18th hole, a par 4 that measures 388 yards from the blue tees.
The city of Phoenix has contracted with several hotel chains to offer stay-and-play packages for golfers at the Cave Creek Golf Course and other municipal tracks.

Still in great condition
I was surprised on how well the condition of the course was at this time of year. Overall great first time experience and will def go back. Golf carts are slow though (had to throw something in there).

course kept in good shape
It was a nice fast 3 hour round, the course was in very good condition in the middle of a hot summer, fairways and greens were in very good shape, a great value

Great municipal course
Pace of play was great, challenging layout and very fun but challenging would definitely play here again.

Good pace of play. Twosome in front of us was giving lessons when it was time to play. Culd have finished 30 minutes earlier. Cart girl never came by. fairways were sparse, maybe they need more water.

Nice track
I’ve played Cave Creek countless times and always enjoy this venue. The greens are always challenging, but the layout is very forgiving. Considering it’s the heat of the summer here in Phoenix, the course is in very good shape. Played there twice this week and will likely be there again tomorrow or Saturday. Highly recommend to anybody as it is a great value for the money.

Price difference
The rate said 30 on the app and was 35 when we got there. The coarse was decent and fun to play.

Whatever
Somehow a foursome booked the same tee time as me and they double charged me (both the app and the course). The guy in the pro shop wasn't very helpful. I was told I could go ahead of the foursome and wait in the line of 5 groupings currently waiting for the first tee. Since it was just me, decided to just play the back 9. Took about 70 mins which is a ridiculous pace, but no one was pushing me from behind. The course was just ok. Wouldn't use the app to book and there's probably better options out there

Average
The fact that it is built over an old landfill says it all! Grounds keeping has just finished punching the greens so there is that and it still has it’s rough edges. Has some interesting holes on the back nine but the front is blahhhhh!!! Hadn’t played it in a few years and pretty much understood why once I was on the course....
