Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

Nice open course for new to average golfer. Greens are very fast and pin placement was sometimes unfare for playing the first time.
SC Lakes West
Friendly course, well manicured; great for mixed groups of average duffers looking for a relaxed course; handicap <10 may want more of a challenge unless they just simply desire a relaxing round with the gang. Had fun with friend & wife. Enjoy all SC courses when we visit. Occasionally will step out and tee off at a high priced desert style course with greater challenge.
had a great time
course is not hard to play, and, play is slow but you need to expect that in suncity in the winter.played with 3 guys 2 from n.y. 1 from pa.couldn't have asked for a better group of guys to play a round with.no-one in a hurry, but, that is the way I like to play.will be back again.
Great coures, but pace of play could be better
I always like playing this course, it's always clean and well groomed and the holes offer enough challenge for the intermediate golfer while keeping it simple enough for the less-than-intermediate player. Only complaint was the pace of play, which was VERY SLOW. Granted, I was playing as a solo, but I was WALKING behind groups of 2 that had carts, and figured that would make up the difference. Yet I was waiting as much as 5-8 minutes on many holes and was only able to get 13 holes played before dusk came. All-in-all I didn't fret too much about it because of the great price for the round, and I will still play there many times. The key to improving your odds on pace of play is to plan your round for times when the course is likely to be open, like later afternoon on mid-weekdays.
Good for beginners and short hitters.
Nice course with all of the amenities .lots of water but short. Great for beginners and seniors .
Winter Golf Pocket Relief
Nice west valley course that provides a welcome break from peak season pricing! Decent layout that's pretty straightforward, it only plays 6200 yards from the tips but the greens make up for the lack of length with killer pen placements and undulating greens. Overall good experience, very friendly staff. If you use GolfNow's website be aware that the HOTDEAL does not include the cart, I wasn't aware of that until check in and was slightly taken aback but still a positive experience.
Early morn
Played on a cold early morning (7:50 A.M., 40 degrees). Had an enjoyable group to play with; played front nine in 1:30 with no waits (fist group off one) but then had to wait 35 minutes to start on back because course had tee times off both nines. I feel we could have fit in between groups starting on 10. Seems like this was a punishment for our rapid pace of play Once we were on the back we were able to play in just under 2 hours so overall time of 3:40 was still excellent. Course was in good shape and we enjoyed our round.
Slow everywhere this time of yr
Nice course and friendly people. Expect 4 1/2 hr round in January thru early April. We waited quite a bit since they let 5 somes out but still managed it in 4 1/2 hrs. Third time we've played it with Hot Deals on GolfNow so a really good price.
Good overall but beware of fine print
Enjoyed a weekday round but discovered upon arrival when checking in that what I booked on GolfNow was for a walking rate and didn't include our carts. Had to pay $10/seat extra. So $30 more. Wasn't a deal breaker but definitely unexpected nonetheless. I just know now to make sure I read the fine print in the future.
Enjoyable day out with my son and dad
We chose this course after looking at the deals on golfnow, arrived about 20 minutes early, went to the clubhouse and wished I booked somewhere else, the lady seemed friendly though complained about the computer system, how our reservation wasn't in there and why she hated golf now.
We finally got checked in, late for our time because of checking and got to the first tee b only to have instructions rudely shouted over the loudspeaker to us, do this, get cart back by dark, your clubs need to be back by 5....
The course itself was nice, greens were too slow for my liking and it was a great day with 3 generations playing.
On return the cart guys were great and friendly, not the same can be said for the clubhouse lady, snarl and rude again.
More customer training is needed.
Very slow pace of play!!!!!
Lakes Course
Course was in great condition. Enjoyed playing the golf course
excellent day
weather was chilly for Arizona and the course was wet in spots due to the rain. the greens were true and had good speed considering they were soft. all in all everything was great.
Nice, average course
Pretty good condition. It was Thanksgiving day so it was pretty vacant. We didn't have to wait, staff was EXCELLENT, especially having to work on a holiday. The course itself is pretty average, we had a nice round and enjoyed it.
Sun City Lakes West
Course in great shape for this close to overseed, greens better (faster and truer) than others I've played in the last three weeks. Fairway turf a little long (no roll at all) but no problem finding the ball.
Sun City Lakes
Course was is finishing up with overseeding and in good shape. No icon on booking time to indicate cart part only until after I booked the tee time. Some of the greens were still a little wooly.
Thick grass
The fairway grass was so thick your ball disappears. I wish the staff tell customers this so they don't get disappointed when they find out.
Tough course
Nice course.Lots of canal water that you can't see come in to play. The rough is shot but very thick hard to hit out of. Stay in the short grass. Staff was very friendly. Had a good time will be back.
