Sun City Lakes Golf Club - West Course
About
The 18-hole West Course at Sun City Lakes Golf Club is a private course with a traditional layout. The course is quite open and features a few interesting challenges. It is relatively flat, making it nice to walk although carts are available. More advanced players that mostly hit straight balls may not find the course challenging enough, but it is quite enjoyable for beginners and intermediate players. Notable holes on the course are the 3rd, 9th, and 18th since they can be played a few different ways. The Lakes West Golf Course facility, in addition to the course, has practice facilities including a putting green, chipping area, and driving range.

nice layout, fun course
first time playing here. nice layout overall, with some water features that tie in the holes. everything was great but the greens had multiple grass forms which made the surface rough and untrue. maybe it will grow out once overseeding is completed.
Always Enjoyable
I'm a member of RCSC so I play all the Sun City courses when I'm in town. I usually play a very early tee time so pace of play is never a problem and I always walk. Beware - 5 somes are a allowed and happen all the time on any of the RCSC courses. The course is flat with a nice layout.
Nice Course with few hazards
This course doesn't challenge you with lots of sand traps but I found four of them anyway. Plenty of long holes to use the driver. Greens and fairways were in good shape. I would definitely play here again.
Fivesome
I get to the course and every Sun city course post a tee time with a cart included. This course posted walking tee time. I don't know who they think is playing there course but it isn't anyone walking. Its Sun city!! Strike # 1. Then they put me with a 5 some.
Strike #2. Then half way through the round they started a shot gun start. WOW! and there is strike #3
Slow play
The only problem I had was the pace of play at this course, when I finished the front all of a sudden there were like 4 groups of 4 in front of me on the back??? They never let you play through at all and the pace on the back took forever!
Great Course for the money
The only downsides to the course is the Golf Now price didn't include a cart (only course i ever played thru golf now, that didn't). Please get the map fixed....it has been incorrect for years.
Snails play golf faster
Had a group of 5 in front of us and a group of 6 in front of them, quit after 16 holes.
Enjoyable round
Somewhat better maintained than other Sun City courses. Greens ran true and very few aggressively sloped greens which are in abundance on the other Sun City courses. Pace of play just over 4 hours.
When we realized our green fee was walking rate, we planned on renting a cart. Price was extremely reasonable but there were no carts available. This apparently occurs frequently so, if you want/need a cart, you may want to check ahead.
Would definitely play here again and would also like to try the East executive course.
What a Great Day
They said they have a cart shortage but did find one for me. Played with a really nice couple for nine
and then another nice guy asked me to join him on the back. I liked this course better than a couple
other $75 courses I've Played recently. I think this course and Sun City North and South have become
my favorites. When I finished a guy told me where to leave the cart and then drove me to my car.
A thankful older Guy
Nice Course
We enjoyed playing this course, but then again, we usually do as it seems to always be in nice shape. The fairways are beautiful and the greens are good, quick and run pretty true, it's just too bad it seems people have somehow forgotten that repairing ball marks would be nice.....
This is one of the few courses that we play that ask you to check in at "the turn" even when starting on the 1st tee. This seemed to cause a bit of a back-up but then again if this is the biggest complaint, aren't we lucky!
All in all, we had a great time and the course is in pretty darn good shape. Get out there and enjoy it while you can......
In sun city NO course players will let you through unless they are from the Midwest. I've worked at many courses and the players overall think they have just them in mind.
