Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

Snowbird playing different courses in Arizona
Kim McDonald is run by the city so I’m sure they are limited in their funds. But I’ve played other public courses and non That are much better shape and bang for the dollar a better deal. Maybe it was just a day but the staff was disorganized and at times rude for some ungodly reason.
Great Muni Course
The only negative about the course is that the bunkers were not as good as they normally are. The sand was very shallow and wet most of the morning. Otherwise this muni is a great test. Some very challenging holes, especially 9, 15 & 16. Greens were very true and fast.
Ranger
We were playing with 2 other people . We were on time . The ranger came up to us and said we needed to step aside for 4 men 1,was walking . We asked why . Because they called and said you were slow . I understand pace of play.
The golfers were stacked up . We let them hit, they bobbled most of the drives. Not cool .
Best price in the valley
With a very low green fee if you play after 2 pm, Ken Mac Donald is certainly the best affordable golf course of the valley.
The lay out of the golf course is good and course is well maintained.
Thank you city of Tempe for this nice golf course
Love this track
Greens always in great shape,, Bunkers and fairways in great shape, great pace of play 3 hours 40 minutes for 18. Love this track.
Bunkers a joke
Have played Kenny Mac very often in the past. Now a snow bird I don’t play it often. It is a nice layout and you will use most of the clubs in your bag, the par 3’s can be very challenging and the stretch from 7-11 is a nice test.
The bunkers are horrendous. They have a dusting of sand on top of caliche. Best to putt out if possible or chip.
Greens were nice, fairly fast, firm and unfortunately so many players did not fix there ball marks which are difficult to see due to the firmness.
But it is a fair test and priced reasonable.
We will be back
Our first time here, but not our last. The course was in excellent shape. Challenging enough for recreational golfers. The greens were terrific compared to any others we played this year.
A little gem in the city
Love this course. Well run and in good condition. Friendly staff and a Marshall that keeps things moving.
