Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

The course has unreasonable pin positions
Pin positions were tucked in the most difficult places

sand bunkers is hard ground. needs more sand (lots)
Ok for bargain golf
If your expectations are not high you will enjoy, rather boring layout, slow greens, maintenance not bad for a municipal course, don’t pay more than $40

First time playing the course. Like the layout, pretty straight forward.
Bang for your Bucks
Great staff. Very accommodating. Greens putt well. Fairways in good shape. Play was slow, but not unexpected with great weather and very reasonable prices. Bunkers play inconsistent because the morning water bakes to crusty surface during the extended sunshine.
A long course, but fun to play
My wife and I both really like this course, and will be back. But a couple of realities: some holes are par 4’s well over 400 yards and some par 5’s over 500 yards, both from the white tee boxes.. We are both seniors, age 74 years. On some of these long holes, the forward red tees have only a few yards advantage over the whites, which can put senior ladies golfers at quite a disadvantage depending upon how important GIR’s may be. Par scores can be difficult to achieve for us geezers because of the length of these holes. We usually just take our bogeys or doubles in context with the layout and enjoy ourselves. It’s still great to be playing well enough at our age that scores are not all that important.
KennyMac is always a good value
It's not the Phoenician or Las sendas... but a great value and for a Muni course it's always in pretty darn good shape. Never had a bad complaint or round there. For what courses are getting this winter it's ALWAYS a great value and a great time! And kudos to Mike at the Pro Shop too... you can feel his enthusiasm for the game and just an all around good guy.
Ranger
My foursome played a 3 1/2 hour round. The ranger asked us to pick up the pace three times. He was a nice guy and wasn't nasty about it but he really should not have done that. When we tee'd off on one the first two holes were enpty. The ranger somehow thought we should catch uo to the twosome in front of us despite our 3 1/2 hour pace of play.
