Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

Great course for the price. The course was in good condition considering how very dry the weather has been. The 17 tee box was in a confusing location.
Classic Layout but it was soaked
You can tell they are trying to recover from a poor overseed. The course is heavily saturated and lots of bare mud spots. I walked, so it was a bit tricky navigating to each shot on some holes with stagnant water. Greens were quick and fair, but a few of the greens had been grass/dirt mixture and bumpy.
Course needs more TLC especially for the increased cost golf nowadays in AZ. I love the central location and easy walkability. Still love playing here if the pace of play is smooth. Took us about 4.5 hours with only holdups on Par 3s.
Great Value
Nice practice areas. Modern carts. Great cart paths. Flat land with some interesting layout angles and water features. Plenty long. Receptive and smooth rolling greens. Very friendly staff. Excellent value for the money.
Where is the grass?
You get what you pay for. Tempe needs to water more on fairways and greens. Layout okay, wide open fairways. Local people and staff very nice. Restaurant food limited availability and below average quality but people / servers / kitchen women were very nice and apologetic for limitations on what was available on the menu. Would not play again.
Worth the cost this time of year
Last played here in summer of 2023. I generally read reviews before making a teatime and will say that Ken McDonald is definitely worth the price this time of year. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in fantastic shape. Would I pay more than $100 to play here, no however it’s definitely worth $80 and less this time of year in Phoenix. I was paired up with a stranger and we played at 12:40 on a Sunday afternoon and it only took us 3 1/2 hours. Highly recommend and will definitely be back soon.

Great course but we did not play because golf now made a tee time when none were available. Wednesday tee times are not available due to the mens club that play every Wednesday morning
A hidden gem in Tempe, AZ
A great surprise playing my first time at this golf course. The fairways and greens were in good condition. I'll definitively will play this course again.
M+K
Good value and the pace of play was good , 4:15 on a Saturday.
Pretty basic , flat course . Almost all the trouble is off to the left or right with generous landing areas . The price is what would bring us back . MAC
Not worth 70$
I wouldnt pay 70$ to play this course 40$ is pushing it !! Besides flipping the back to the front. No improvement over the past 25 yrs. Confused on what upgrades they did to warrant 70$ tee times .. nice people restaurant is okay but over priced peak season.. might as well play a nicer course and add 30$ to it cause its 100$+
Fun day
Had a great time, course was in great condition!
Only complaint very poor parking situation, hope the city can hire an architect to help 😳
