Ken McDonald Golf Course
About
Located in the metropolitan Phoenix area, the affordably priced Ken McDonald Golf Course is a championship-length course that is suitable for any level of golfer. The flat terrain of the course makes for an enjoyable stroll, while the water hazards that come into play on eight holes provide plenty of challenge. The water hazards are provided by the Western Canal, which flows directly through the golf course. The par-5 11th hole is the longest on the course at 570 yards; it is very difficult to reach in two shots. In addition to the course, Ken McDonald Golf Course offers several other amenities including a restaurant, club fitting and repairs, and professional golf instruction.

Golf now sucks!!
Golf now is selling teetimes for a fee that they don’t have. Take the time to show up at a golf course And they do not have you on their T sheet even though you purchased a teatime from GolfNow. Golf now customer service has plenty of excuses. And they’ll give you your Reservation Fee back. but can’t give you your time or your gas money back. I called BS.!
Kenny Mac is a public gem
Course is wide open with trees and water guarding some holes. Pace of play can be slow. But we finished in 4 hours.
Sunday
Club championship in AM. Good pin placements. Greens slower than desired
7/10 review
I played yesterday with Tammy, the Food and Beverage manager. She was a lot of fun!
The fairways were a little thin, and the greens slow, but the course was in decent shape otherwise. Play was slow due to extremely slow groups in front of us.
Poor customer service
Checkin started iffy and only got worse. We reserved a tee time (GN) for early Saturday, when we walked in to the clubhouse to check in and pay, we had to wait for the starter to finish his conversation the guy at the register. The started wanted to make sure his buddies were being taken care of. Awkward wait as I could tell the guy at the register knew better than to interrupt the starter. Once we had the attention of the guy taking money, it was fine, we paid for our 18 holes and we were off to see the starter who sent us off in the back nine. As we finished up the last couple holes of our first nine, we could hear 5, 10, even 20 minute calls for the next groups. We figured something went wrong so we went in side at the turn to ask if we would be able to play the front nine. We were told no, by the starter. Men’s League had the tee box for the next 2 hours. He was quite rude about it too. I assured them we paid for 18 to which they looked it up and verified we did pay for 18. At that point the guy that took the money apologized as he was aware the was an issue with GN and that 18 holes were not available and that the three other groups were only charged for 9 holes. The starter doubled down that we could only play nine holes. At that pint there was no offer to give us a refund, a voucher, nothing. I had to awkwardly insist we paid for 18 holes and we should be given the opportunity to play. The money guy then looked up and noticed there was a small window where we could play the back nine again if we choose. Starter chimed in “that’s your only option!” . So, if you don’t know the starter, expect poor customer service!! What makes things worse is I had a buddy in from Tucson who had never played in Phoenix. Not a great first impression. We will be skipping this course in the future, even if it is a “great deal”.
Dry and brown
I’ve played here before and I enjoy it but…I know it’s the summer but the conditions were not the best. The greens were in good shape which is important but the fairways were stressed out and a lot of areas with no grass. I’ll still come and play don’t worry but I’m thinking with the current conditions, the $40 to play at 930 was maybe just a tad too much.
Rough shape
The course is in very poor condition.
The middle of the fairways are dirt (mud) and the collars of the greens are even worse.
I was very disappointed with the course conditions as I have come to expect it to be much better. I’ll try it again in the Fall but I’m done with it for the summer.
Just Ok
Very little variety on this course layout. Fairways were spotty with a lot of burned Bermuda scalp. Greens slow and bunkers hard. Very little shade on course. I visit infrequently to see if it feels or plays any different and wish I could say it felt like a downturn due to heat. It’s just not very good compared to other options in the area. They do offer a walking rate though, which can be a bonus.
Slow play still good day.
Greens and fairways in good shape. Some areation somewhat slow.
Meh
Summer golf. Not expecting much but still think the course should be in a little better shape. Didn’t spend a lot for the tee time, so not a huge deal, but slightly disappointed compared t the last time I played.
Great value!
Fairways have a lot of dead spots but we simply took relief as "ground in repair." Greens were absolutely exceptional!
Pace was great, if anything we were the slow group. I'm looking forward to going back!
Nice courae
The fairways were a little rough due to aeration, but overall the course was not too bad.
