Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Let down
We had an early tee time and the clubhouse attendant let us start early, which was nice because we would have been behind a fivesome. Our first drive, which was in the fairway, was hard to find because the fairway was littered with range balls. It was cartpath only, so it was hard to know what club to take to your shots. The greens were very slow and mowed unevenly. On seven or eight (par three) the bridge to the green was almost uncrossable because it was in such bad shape. Finally, the “island Green”. Was a dried up moat. I’m sorry to be so negative, but I thought some of the high rated reviews were very misleading...we both decided to call it a day after 9.

Good course
This is a challenging course.greens in good shape.some patches but playable.I enjoyed it .

"Learn, tune ups, and Turnt' up"
For the price this course offers a great experience for beginners. For the guy trying to tune up his new set of Irons, it's awesome. For the more avid Golfer, it offers a chance to shoot a round with golfers of all skill levels and then enjoy all that the Shalimar club has to offer. It's quite impressive for such a hidden lil gem of a golf course.
Great course for the value
Course was fun and maintained! It is short but will challenge everything from your driving to your chipping. This is the first course I have been to that had a 5gallon jug of water set out on hole #4 (about half way). Loved it will definitely be back to play!

It is what it is ...
Older 9 hole course which has seen better days, but good layout, in fair condition, and friendly staff. Just realize you get what you pay for, and the pace of play may be slow due to inexperienced golfers playing, but course is easy to walk (you don’t really need a cart) and s fair value for the money.

Great Value - but don’t plan on getting out in under 2 hrs
Started our round at 3:30. Didn’t get off the course until after 6.
Mind you this is only a 9 hole Par 33... so extremely slow!

Perfect day for golf
I was greeted by the friendly staff as I arrived. The putting and pitching areas were in great shape. I was paired up with another single player and alternately had a fun round and a great day. The fairways were in good shape and the greens were perfect.
Overall I had a great experience. I will definitely be playing at Shalimar again and I do recommend this course. A good value as well.
If I had one area for improvement, Please allow the golf carts be taken in the parking lot.

First visit to Shalimar
My tee time was 10:30. Course was busy and pace was fast. A little too fast. Fairways are in great shape and the greens as well. Staff was friendly. I would recommend.

Great course
I really don’t want to spend too much money in golfing but this course is
great for the money. Challenging! I play from the back tees and it gives
a new look of the golf course!!
Nice little course
We are not professional players so it was just right for us with a couple holes quite challenging. But lots of fun. Sometimes hard to see the flag at the green , a red flag would be may more visible for all.
Short course...tiny greens
The course is an executive par 33 course. The greens are very small and average speed. Pace of play was good as we finished nine holes riding in 1 1/2 hours. Fairways are green and in decent shape but the roughs are exactly that rough! The par four holes require accuracy in that some are tree lined or lined with homes. We paid under 6 bucks riding on a hot deal through golf now VIP rates. Have seen it advertised at $33 for 18 riding. Probably not worth $33 since the 18 would require repeating the nine holes. But an under ten rating for nine is worth the drive.

Only complaint was pace of play - they need a marshall to deal with slow groups.
Just Alright
This course is a fair value. However, our group did not enjoy the fact that there were "foot golfers playing soccer on the course. A golf club that allows soccer players to use their course? This was a very big turnoff from us playing here again. I guess the saying "you get what you pay for" applies heavily here.
The highlights of this course are the chipping area, hole #5, and $4 well drinks anytime. Yes, you read that correctly. $4 ANYTIME. The food at the bar is great though.
If you want to play serious golf, you might want to look elsewhere. I would only recommend this course to someone looking for a cheap, easy, laid back course. Shalimar can be a great time if you know what to expect.
