Shalimar Golf Club
About

Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Good Greens
Very tight course that you have little forgiveness hitting down the fairway. Played 9 holes but enjoyed playing.
Quaint course
Great course for the money. I absolutely love the layout of this quaint course.
When you drive into the course parking lot there isnt a sign that says bag drop oany indication of how to get to the pro shop to check in.
You almost get what you pay for
I've played here 20+ times. It's relatively cheap but once you get there it'll make sense. Course always looks like it's in a drought. No marshalls or starters will ever be on the course. This is a golf/footgolf course so prepared to have soccer balls flying by you and kids running around. If you book in the morning the retirees might be quick but there's usually a 5-some out there at some point. In the afternoon it's just as bad because of the price. Pace of play isn't a thing at this course so have fun in the AZ heat all day on a 9-hole course.
Not what it used to be
Have been playing this track for decades. It is slowly but surely going downhill and no longer a good value for the money. At the price of 9 holes at Shalimar, you can play 18 holes at several other courses within 10 miles of Shalimar, and they are in much more playable condition. No reason to play here except on a spur-of-the-moment basis for a quick 9, as there is almost always a great chance to just show up and walk on.
Watch out
Very good value for the money but do not play when they have soccer people playing as they hold up golf play.
Couples golf
My wife and I played on a Monday morning. We never caught up to the group in front of us and the three foursomes behind never caught up with us. The course is fairly wide open and my wife likes and needs that. The fairways and greens were in great shape and I was able to make several putts. We will be back for casual golf that was fun
Fun course
Great course for occasional and beginning golfers. It would be easy to nit pick about patchy fairways and shaggy greens but to be honest we had a fun round. The par 4s are long enough to use your driver and I think I used most of my irons too. The refreshment cart came by three times which was nice. This course is a great value if you can relax and have fun. There’s always TPC Scottsdale for you low handicappers.
Tired course
The best thing about the course were the greens they were in great shape. The fairways could use a lot of work. The flags were difficult to see they blended into the background.
What a disappointment!
Never got to play. A guy was teaching his son how to play. The took 20-25 minutes to play the first hole. When they got to the 2nd tee, the group ahead of them was still on the green. I hit 2 shots and left without playing.
Small, not very scenic, 9 holes
Fun course. Never crowded, easy on/off. Staff is friendly. 3 par 3’s are easy from the white tees. Play from the black and you will need a long iron. Play the par 4’s from the blue tees and you will need accuracy or else u can get into trouble. Hole 6 and hole 9 are very challenging from the blues. If you can’t keep your drives straight, play them from the whites and you will be fine.
Best deals on GolfNow for 9 holes. I wish that they would give a better deal on 18 holes!
Lots of fun
First time playing this course with my Grandson who is only nine and a beginner, we had a blast. The Starter in the club house was very nice and set the tone for a fun round. The course was in good shape better than I was anticipated and there were several holes were you can use a driver. This was the perfect course to take a youngster that is just beginning to play golf. We will be back.
Good warm up for playing other courses.
My wife and I played yesterday at 10:27am. Staff was great and value on Golf Now was good. Course was dry and mowing left lots of grass piles. Tee boxes needed some care and overall the course needs TLC and investment.
