Shalimar Golf Club

About
Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Good value
Layout of the coarse is good. Looks like they are fighting against House development. Seems like they have maybe given up a bit. Greens need some watering. But being an intermediate golfer the value is good for me. You still have to make the shots
Shalimar is KING
Shalimar is an old course that doesn’t get the love it deserves. A lot of talk about wanting to turn it in to condos or something and I think that would be terrible and Tempe would really lose a great peace. I love this course and I’ll go play there often just cause I know my fees are going to keeping this place going. Visit Shalimar for a quick 9, or run it back and do 18. You won’t regret it.

Thank you for your kind words! We hope to see you again at the course very soon for another 5-star experience. Thanks for choosing Shalimar Golf Club.
Lifelong Golfer
The worst golf course I have ever played in my life. There's nothing good that I can say about the people who work there either. It's a farce. They will short change you and overcharge you.
Terrible staff. Shut it down.
Terrible communication from the dude at the desk. We didn’t have our own clubs and weren’t informed. The dude told us to start whenever so we did. Then we were approached by a worker saying we had to hurry up and finish and then tried to make us pay for rentals after not being informed beforehand. They then kicked us off the course with 4 holes to go on a 9 hole course. Course and staff are both terrible. Shut this place down as soon as possible. Go find a new job.

We're sorry to hear about your experience and the communication issues you faced. Your feedback is invaluable, and we'll strive to improve moving forward.
Perfect for newbies
While I’m not technically a newbie, I haven’t played in a while and this course was a great place to dive back in. Play was a little slow but picked up as we got further along the course.

Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Shalimar Golf Club.
Neglected
Course looks like the ownership doesn’t take pride in how it looks. No sand in the bunkers. Dead grass on tee boxes. Really isn’t worth 20$ for a 1.5 hr round.

We apologize for the state of the course during your visit and appreciate your feedback to help us improve. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.
Preferred to not see the chain link fence near the driving range as beat up, bent and damaged. But I like the green lush area along the water. It makes you feel like you're not in the desert! :)

Hello, thanks so much for your rating and feedback. We hope to see you again soon!
No organization
Arrived for my 945 tee time to a dozen people waiting to tee of because they allowed walk ons to just “go on when you’re ready” instead of having the walk ons wait for people that actually have reserved tee times that are already paid for. Didn’t even get around to playing knowing I wouldn’t have teed off until at least 45 minutes past my reserved tee time

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by our tee time management and understand your frustration at not being able to play as scheduled. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Poor conditions
This course is in very rough shape! It’s cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I rented right handed clubs as I was in town for work, and used my driver and when I got up to my ball noticed that all the irons and putter were left handed. I was not given a refund for having to play the round with borrowed clubs to avoid returning to the clubhouse and disrupting pace of play. Seems like the drunk locals enjoy it but I wouldn’t recommend to anyone else.

We apologize for the mix-up with the clubs and the condition of our course. Thank you for your feedback; we will work on improving our services.
9 hole
Fun inexpensive 9 hole course. You can rent Golf carts, bag carts and walk it.

Wow! We are so happy you enjoyed your round! We look forward to seeing you again soon at Shalimar Golf Club.
Mesa Golf Around Package

Thank you for recognizing the good value and layout. We're working on improving the conditions, including the watering of the greens. Thank you for your feedback.
