About
Shalimar Golf Club is a nine-hole golf course in Tempe. The course is best for beginners but it has enough challenges in store to make it a great option for more advanced players who want a quick round. The layout is comprised of three par 3s and six par 4s. It weaves through a smattering of mature trees and across gently rolling hills. The small greens can be quite tricky, especially since there are strategically placed bunkers lurking along some. Water hazards come into play on a few holes, including the 155-yard fifth, which is one of the golf course's toughest. You'll have to pull off a carry over the area's biggest lake to a heavily bunkered, narrow green. Shalimar Golf Club's ninth hole is the most well known though, mainly for the island green. In addition to the water, there are also four bunkers surrounding the green.

Greens were the best thing about the course conditions. Everything else was conditions making play difficult even though the club appeared active with lots going on?
No starter, no announcement on who’s up on the tee or on deck etc. I had to figure it out myself.
No bunkers as their condition was pathetic. There was not much grass so the ball would roll forever… I will not suggest or return even if another hot deal at $61 for two. The only way hing I accomplished was to get my wife on the course so we could play together behind 8 players playing together who teed off as two foursomes…and quickly joined each other who were all hacker/beginner skill level golfers.

A great course for the price. I would definitely play it again, hoping that the "development" does not happen. It does need some TLC, and my rating would have been higher.

You get what you pay for
Locals play here for $25 9 holes. Price is a bit high for here compared to what I pay in Denver. One review said clubs were new. Not sure how new but the rentals were very dirty, you had to buy balls and my 7 iron was bent. I can walk lots of nice courses in Denver for $40-$50. I would have not wanted to pay $50 for this course. GN was $19 /9 holes

My type of golf
Shalimar is a neighborhood club. It’s not fancy, or perfectly maintained, or expensive, or stressful. It’s just fun local golf, and that’s all I want.

Not what it used to be!
Played this course for first time in 10 years. The conditions and place of play were terrible.

Not worth it!
Tee boxes have more sand than the bunkers. Bunkers have more grass than the fairway. I think I lost one kidney on the bumps in the cart path. I should have driven my Polaris

Everyone on Staff is great and accommodating.
Course needs some pretty work but better than others I have been and the people you meet always make the time worth it. Pricey for a 9 but would still come again for the good practice.
