Long Bay Club

About
The Long Bay Club boasts a Jack Nicklaus Signature design that is consistently ranked as one of the top golf courses in South Carolina, a major accomplishment when you're competing with golf destinations such as Hilton Head and Kiawah Island. The landscape showcases the beauty of the Lowcountry with forests of pines, dogwoods, and maple trees divided by clear blue streams. The golf course design closely mimics the natural contours of the terrain but there are also countless large, man-made mounds that were seamlessly sculpted into the surroundings. It is considered one of the toughest golf courses on the Grand Strand. Golfers will face numerous bunkers that are seemingly bottomless as well as vast waste areas. The signature hole is the par-4 10th, which features a u-shaped waste area that completely surrounds the fairway and then crosses in front of the elevated, contoured green.

insanely challenging for a higher handicapper. but worth it completely
This course is in pperfect shape. Beware the bunkers. Spent the day at the beach which made the course VERY interesting going bunker to bunker several holes. The island green was one of the most fun holes in golf ive played yet. And the signature 10 is absolutely beautiful. If you can get a early morning deal and play for under 70 id say its worth it. Just bring lots of patience and golf balls... Anne something cold to drink if ur out in summer... heat by 9am was killer.
one of the nicest I've been on
I loved the course beautiful and would play there again
Great choice
Overall, very happy with this course. I didn't feel it was as hard as the rating/slope might lead you to believe. The greens were moderately fast, but soft enough to hold long irons. Fairways were in good shape, but had poor drainage so be warned that it will probably be cart path only if you get rain within about 12 hours of your teetime as it was for me. I still wouldn't hesitate to play here again!
PS - I am male despite what my profile says.
No need to bring sand to the beach...course has plenty!
Very nice course with plenty of bunkers. Course was in great shape with greens that rolled true and many challenging shots. Loved the island green on #13 even though I donated a ball to the pond! Will definitely play again!
At $48, this course provided GREAT value. The layout and the greens were both excellent.
Long Bay has most of the features you expect to find in a Nicklaus signature course: the 10th hole is visually stunning (more so looking back from the green); the par 5's are attackable; a left-to-right shot shape is favored. In addition, there is a true island green par 3. The greens and fairways were in excellent shape - country club conditioning, but not "resort course manicured".
The carts do not have GPS, but there are yardage plaques every 25 yards in the fairway - a nice change from other courses in the area.
The starter was brusque, but helpful. There was not an active on-course ranger, which would have been helpful at the island green par 3 (3 foursomes on the tee at once). The snack cart came around at least 4 times during the round.
Overall, this was great value for a Nicklaus signature course (at $48).
I will definitely go back.
Long Bay, North Myrtle Beach
A very enjoyable challenge for even the average golfer. Nice Nicklaus signature design.
Beautiful Course
Jack has another winner. Great design and beautiful layout. I will play this course again next year. Island green was amazing and I pared it.
Course was in good condition and the greens putted true good course
This course was in good condition and was very interesting tough but fair I would play this course again greens were true it did rain and the greens drained and still were fast. Naturally the pace of play depends on who you are playing behind so no one can hold the course accountable on the time it takes to play a round .
Great Course, Friendly Staff. Play every time I'm in Myrtle and never disappointed!
Great Course, Friendly Staff. Play every time I'm in Myrtle and never disappointed!
Challenging but not brutal.
Typical Nicklaus course with challenging greens and generous fairways and lots of waste bunkers.
Great staff!
Very good course for all skill levels
Course was not in the best of shape, fairways could use a little more grass. Bunker/waste area consruction on some holes.
Great layout, plays slow
Love the layout, but the pace of play is terrible. Had a 7:45am tee time and our foursome played the front nine in 1 hour 40 mins. The back nine was almost 3 hours 15 mins.
Gotta play this track
You may hear it's too tough.... baloney, this is a playable course that can and will reward good golf, but ought to always give the golfer a great time.
One of the Nicest Courses & designes in Myrtle Beach
I have been Playing this course at least once for the past 10 Yrs, It is a Beautiful Layout & You can make it as tough or as Playable as you desire. Depending on tee Box Preference. It is always well maintained, A Challenge & Joy to play. Also of course it is a Nicklaus Design. Nothing else needs to be Said. OUTSTANDING !
