Sign says
Sign says “ Best greens “… it’s mid April.. so maybe they haven’t had enough warm weather but the greens were like green painted concrete. Rock hard and patchy at best.
Maybe the course will be better in the fall.
I can’t recommend playing here.
Mean Staff
The nicest interaction I had was with the bag drop guys. They were very friendly and nice. The guy Steve inside at the pro-shop that took your money for the round of golf was super rude. He was going to charge me $25 extra because my kid was riding in the cart. Then at the turn he jumps out and yells at me saying that the kids cannot play. I told him they were only putting here and there and they were not playing. He said they were slowing the pace of play. Well the fact that we had to wait at every tee box for the group in front of us tells me otherwise. He could have just said he hated kids and it would have made more sense. I won’t be returning to this dog track anyway’s. The greens were terrible, it looked like green painted dirt with weeds throughout. Good luck staying open!!
Greens are bad
The greens have crab grass all over them, pace of play is jacked allowing walkers to play in the same group as riders slowing groups behind them down, overall not worth more than 40 bucks
Don’t expect a reasonably timed round
My tee time was 11:48. We didn’t get going off the first tee until 12:35 and finished the round at 6pm. Not an enjoyable time at all. Greens were like playing on concrete.
Ranger Issue
Overall experience was good and the course in ok condition except for one issue. We were the 2nd or 3rd group off that morning and fell behind the threesome ahead of us by 1 hole on the 6th hole. The group following us was more than two holes behind. The ranger came up to us at that point and asked us to pick up our pace. We were 50 minutes into the round at that point and finished the front 9 in 1 hour 25 minutes. Left a bad taste in my mouth to hassle us for no reason at all. Won’t be back.
Great Value
For the cost of the round this was a great place to play. The fairways are hard so the ball rolls a long ways on drives but then that makes it difficult to hit iron shots into the green. Lots of sand as the name suggests. The greens are moderately fast but have some weeds growing that affect some putts. For the price this is worth playing compared to some extreme prices around. Very friendly starter, ranger and bag drop attendant. I would consider playing it again when I am in the area.
Not Impressed
Staff wasn’t very friendly with out of towners. For the cheapest course to play which wasn’t cheap at $71. The cheapest course where I’m from in Michigan doesn’t even compare(meaning this course was not worth the money) Made my son rent a set of clubs even tho we rode in same cart and the course was not busy.
Azalea Sands Golf Course Myrtle Beach SC
Always an enjoyable experience. I like playing on the fast greens. The hard packed sand traps and bunkers will test your golf skills. I look forward to my next round of golf.
Did not over seed
Fairways were brown and very thin, wondering why they didn’t overseer as I see most other courses in area did over seed.
Wasn’t Pleasent hitting from very thin, almost bare ground.
Greens were also very hard, not holding and almost no grass except for the numerous clumps of green weeds throughout.
Round was so unpleasant that I did not even bother playing again for the rest of my stay- 3 more days.
