Needs a little TLC
Course is under a lot of repair at the moment. Overall good layout but cosmetically it is in poor shape. Work is ongoing and with time and money it could be an excellent track. Greens run OK but fairways were patchy in places. Tee boxes uncut and long grass.
Under renovation
This course could be extraordinary in a year or two. Nice layout undergoing major regrassing. We will play this course every time we return to MB.
play it again
USE TO WALK THIS COURSE YEARS AGO AND IT WAS SO SO. TODAY i WAS AMAZED AT THE WORK THEY HAD DONE AND ARE STILL DOING,DO GO PLAY IT AND YOU WILL BE SURPRISED.
Fun course
This course is going through some major improvements. The course layout is nice and will be extremely enjoyable to play and beautiful to look at once all of the sod comes in. Greens are already in very good shape. New tee boxes mostly complete and will soon be some of the best in MB. Spring will be a great time to play here.
Weekend Play
This is the 2nd time that we have played on this course. The 1st time was 4 weeks ago and we where informed that they where in the process of updating/ do maintenance throughout the course. The course the 1st time was rough but you could see that they where actually fixing up the course and we where warned before hand so all things said it was what it was. Now the 2nd time, progress is being made, course is looking better. By spring I would bet this will be a pretty sweet course. Golf cart paths could really use some work though. Will be back really enjoy playing here.
Okay course. Reasonable rate.
On an overcast day with light rain to start but the promise of dry weather for the back nine, I teed it up at Azalea Sands.
Friendly staff, decent price, club covers on the carts, greens in excellent condition are among the positives.
Unmowed tees, lax concern with masks, etc... are among the negatives.
The course lay out was okay. Being off-line as I was most of the day, recovery was usually not too difficult. The tees have obviously not been mowed recently. Of course November is a challenging time to grow grass so the overall conditions were playable.
High marks for the condition of the greens! They rolled true and smooth and was the highlight of my game today.
I'm looking forward to playing this course during more normal times and condition.
Red tees
I loved the red tees. Great forward thinking by the staff to “play it forward” for women!!
Poor conditions.
Cart paths are a disaster. Fairways and greens are in very rough shape. Lots of construction going on as well all around the course which was loud and distracting. Would definitely not return
Getting better
We played this course several years ago and said we would not come back. They have made many updates and it is getting better. For the price it is a good deal.
the courses is under renovation
For the value the courses was good. But many holes need alot of help. Really like the forward tees for the ladies as i played with a women that hits a light ball.
the new Azalea
they arre working on it soI understand but it was not fun and all the areas seemed to need work......hopefully it will be fine after the work is done
Not up to par
I played Azalea today in the midst of fall seed planting. No carts allowed on the fairway and there were many workers on the course. Play was slow and he course wasn’t in great condition. Not sure I would venture this course again.
Azalea Sands
First let me say, I like "Ma and Pa" courses and that's what this was. There is a lot of work going on, new tee boxes, most of the fairways were overseeded and were cat path only. My wife is disabled and knowing this upfront would have been better and we would have selected a different course. That said, I spoke with the owner and big changes are afoot. I hope the don't snob it up and just make it a nice, playable course.
Great golf course
This course was fun to play, while some challenging holes overall a moderate course in difficulty. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I will play this course again.
UNDER CONSTRUCTION
All course play costs should be drastically reduced to endure the construction happening. Wint even considered playing here for at least 4 years.
Call me when you're done...
Greens a disaster
I was notified the course was under some construction, no problem. However, the unkept greens were a disaster.. Every green had tremendous amount of debris and the grass was so high it was like putting on a shag rug. The construction work being done is no excuse for not blowing off the debris from the greens and proper mowing.
good layout
Too much work going on and price was too high for the condition of the course.
I was trying to find a course that was good in price and close to where I was staying at Myrtle Beach. Found this course on line. It was close and didn’t charge a whole lot to play 18 holes with a cart. The course is still under renovations, had contractors working on the course why playing but never got in the way. The sand bunkers looked new, greens were slow, some fairways were good and some not. But for the price it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. Just to see the contractor s working on the course showed me that they are trying really hard to make this one of the best courses close to Myrtle Beach. Next time I go to Myrtle I will be sure to play on this course again.
