Azalea Sands Golf Course

You had no option for 9 holes so when it took almost 3 hours for 9 and we had to leave, we were stuck with the 18 hole charge.

Our foursome was waiting on the threesome ahead of us on every shot. I did not see a ranger to help speed up play.

Friendly staff. Not enough sand in the traps but basically ok by public course standards.

When staff switched us to a different cart they left our boxed dozen new balls in the first cart and another pairing left with them. No one had a clue where our dozen new balls went and made no effort to solve the problem!

Otherwise all staff was friendly and helpful.

Course getting better and better.

Staff can’t do enough for you.

The course is best describe as municipal course. It has a straight forward layout with short overall distance. If you are looking for a low cost course it is not bad for the money.

The tee boxes are placed to shorten play but it makes play faster. Gold tees are the distance of Red on the scorecard, Red tees are the distance of the silver. Wasn’t hard to figure out since we had a gps. The fairways are in tough shape due to ( I hope ) early spring. But with all of that , we had a fun time and scored well. This course is good for higher handicaps .

At one point of the day there way 6 people on the tee-box which happened a lot or 5 people a lot with this course often! Which slow down the all day down! And the bag drop person doesn’t know how to golf management! You never was taught! There never though about 2x tees! This early of march..?

overall i like the course . the staff was amazing. the condition of the course sucked. barely any grass, all brown except the greens. nothing i would recommend or play again.

I rented clubs and they were dirty. I was concerned about not brining a towel, and there was one supplied with the rental clubs. I looks like it hadn't been washed for years. I asked where the water bucket was to wet the golf towel and they didn't have one and I was told to use the sink in the bathroom.

On the course was a bathroom... it looked like it had never been cleaned as well.

The fairways have not been reseeded for winter. The Bermuda is dormant and the fairways are very thin. Once the weather changes and the Bermuda begins to grow this will help considerably..

Greens are very hard, the ball is hard to stay on green. They are very fast. Again the warm weather should help.

It is obvious they are working on the course to get it ready for the upcoming season. I would give it another try if i am here in the summer. Myrtle needs these courses with a reasonable price.

They have done numerous renovations to this course since my last visit including the clubhouse. Apparently they have spent between 1.2 & 2 million $ on this work depending on who you talk too: They have switched the nines and done a lot of work on the landscaping. The only negative was the very dry fairways but that is mostly due to our recent Grand Strand weather. The local rate we received was very reasonable.
