About
Located in Little River, S.C., Eagle Nest opened in 1971 and was designed by Golf Course Architect Gene Hamm. The layout is laid out across 250 acres of gently rolling land, rare for a course near Myrtle Beach. The course has been upgraded recently and includes a set of "Perch" tee boxes that play over 8,100 yards, making it the state's longest golf course.
Super senior and player-friendly tee boxes up front have also been installed. This traditional low country layout features not only rolling undulations in it but mature Carolina pines, an abundance of wildlife and beautiful natural landscaping.

Golfer Reviews
Poor pace
Today, 4 hours to play 14 holes, so we left. It would have taken another hour to finish based on the number of players ahead of us as we drove in. The 12th hole, a par 3 ... one group were on the green and we were the third group waiting there to tee off, the ranger drove through all of us and kept on going,
PAY MORE FOR A DIFFERENT COURSE
I have played Eagle Nest 6 or 7 times as part of a package coming to NC. This will be the last time. The fairways have no grass. Greens are ok. Pace of play is a disaster. We had an afternoon tee time. Arrive at the course, only to find out a high school event is taking place. Shame on the course, for taking ours and many others money, to play behind it. They also compounded the problem, by allowing two parents and two others to "follow " along but play. 3 groups now trying to play, in the space, and time, allotted for two. We will pay a little more and play somewhere else!
Billard Table Fairways
The only way that I can describe the fairways, was like trying to hit a fairway shot off of the top of a billiard table. There was virtually no grass, just hard packed sand.
The greens were in better shape, however around every hole there was the doughnut effect. I had at least 14 putts that were directly on line until they were 2 inches from the hole and then curved sharply left or right and missed the hole. Somebody forgot to tamp down around the new hole after they moved it.
The course layout was enjoyable and the staff were great
Fix the fairways and the greens and you have a winner !
As many as 5 groups on the same hole on several occasions over the 18 holes!
Terrible Course
First of all there was a group of 8 players all playing together in front of us, slowed down the entire course! Took 5 1/2 hours to play. Course marshal said nothing. Fairways were very dry and dead. Greens were super fast because they were so dry. Clubhouse closed and all locked up before we even finished our round, no washrooms before we had to drive home. Needless to say will not play here again!
Better options
Taking this course off my to play list. Too many other courses in the area that are better.
I’ve played better for less $
It was ok but nothing to brag about. This was my 6th course in 6 days So I had others to compare it to. It was average but expensive relative to its course condition.
Surprisingly good course
We played here in the off season. For the price it was a great buy. The layout was good. Some easy holes and some that will challenge you. The greens were pretty good. No over-seed but putted pretty true. The starter was a great guy. He got my wife and I off a little early so we were not behind a large group. We played in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Will play again on our summer vacation in August.
Great layout and super challenging!
Was definitely impressed by the layout! Very challenging course but plenty of player friendly options. No over seeding which I actually prefer so I’ll be back!
Good Course, Average Conditions
Cart path only the day we played, very wet and muddy. Course plays well, greens okay, fairway grass not out yet. Good value.
Great value
We are a couple in our 60s and we were paired with a delightful couple in their 70s. It was a very enjoyable round. We were warned by the starter that it’d be slow as the course was very busy and it was cart path only as there was heavy rains the day before. The course was in very good shape, though muddy and the greens were a bit slow and bumpy due to the snow they had recently. Regardless it was nice, long, no stress course with reasonable difficulty. I played the same ball till hole 13! We’ll definitely play it again when we’re back in town. Staff was universally pleasant and friendly.
