Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

Poor course conditions
I have played this course many times and usually absolutely love it. The layout is fantastic and challenging and the maintenance is usually amazing.
The course was in horrible shape with plenty of greens damage due to softness of surface, erosion around most sloped areas was bad, tee boxes were in rough shape. Overall it looks as though this summer has really hurt the course.
For the money, this course is not currently in good enough shape.
Food course
Well kept course . Friendly staff. I would Definitly recommend this course for the price.
a fun course for a good player
This is a fun course. I think the condition was slightly above-average, the fairways were in good shape but some parts of some of the greens had rotted-out, the green speed was all over the place and one of the bukners that I played out of had about 2" of sand in it. The greens in general were marked-up, but overall the course was in decent condition. You wouldn't be either overly impressed or overly upset with it. But the main thing about this course is that it really is a fun course to play, even for the jaded golfer. The front 9 is a bit technical and will require concentrated play to score decently. The backside is somewhat more open, offering up a nice long stretch of big tee-shots & fairly easy approaches that, while pretty straightforward and certainly nothing out of the ordinary, are still just a bit technical and you can either let the big dog bite and take your chances or play for score, and either way it's enjoyable. I played from the back tees and was a little off my game but still shot a 105, with a couple of +4s on the front and a +5 on the back, generally about half a stroke over my average per hole. I didn't really get warmed-up until about the 6th hole and blew a long string of pars and bogeys with a +5 in the middle of the back (I was easily on pace to shoot under 100 before that). But in general it was fun. The weather was nice, a little hot (standard Northern VA summer weather) but not too hot, or humid, not a lot of bugs...we just got carried away hitting big tee-shots :) but it was fun, really. None of the holes are really super-tricky, tight or technical. It's all just right there in front of you, some waste, some verticality, some greens guarded by bunkers...standard fare, yet, still, just about "medium difficulty". The tee-shots are fairly easy, the iron shots moderate difficulty, the length moderate as well. Just a fun layout. Challenging, but not insanely-so. I can't see not having fun playing this course. Unfortunately the rate was a bit high for it, with a 30% discount I still paid $50 through golfnow (the most that I've ever paid to play a course through golfnow), so that's $75 a round on Saturday during regular hours...it's not *that* good, sorry. But I would definitely pencil this course in a few times a year, otherwise. I look forward to playing it again. I should mention also that this is more of an upscale course, guys putting your bag *into* your cart and all that, not quite popped-collar but still an upscale crowd. Unfortunately golf makes us all equal, in a way :) hang in there, play the course smart, don't let things get you too upset, don't try to beat the course into submission, and let your irons work for you instead of making them work against you...standard fare. Nothing all that tough. But rewarding, even so.
Beautiful course and Friendly Staffs
There is nothing more to tell to consider playing golf at the Augustine.d
Beautiful course, great condition
The staff was very friendly in all aspects, the course in great condition , would definitely play there again
Augustine - They are trying anyway
Went out got paired with some scratch golfers who were going to play in a Va State qualifer the next day. We played from the tips or at least where they were marked as many of the back tee boxes had no grass. Literally they were gone. My game is coming back as I have been away from the game for some time but the guys I played with could really move the ball. One green slow and somewhat soft near the pin number 1, and number 2 bunkers looked fantastic so I can see some work has been done there. New sodding around the greens again seems they are having issues. THe back nine greens were rock hard. On 16 bombed a drive out 300 and a sand wedge into the green. hit 15 feet in fron of the pin and the ball went off the back of the green. It was July but goodness sakes.
How is it that you don't t see the pro of the golf course on the weekends here, I thought the pros worked on the busiest days of the week for the club.
It is a nice layout but significant work neds to be done here to get the greens and fairways up to the cost of what the management team of Augustine are asking to play there.
I played to see what this looked like on a aafter 3:00 golf now special as I was a member years ago, perhaps I would join again but nearly 6000 for myself and the wife for these conditions? Sorry you all are not there yet.
I will say it is clear they have been working to get it back to what it was in the late 90's
Fabulous value
An overall wonderful experience. The course was virtually empty and we played in under 4 hours.Course in terrific shape. If you can handle the I95 traffic you're in for a great day!
Disappointed with condition
Second time I have played it this year and was really disappointed in the condition. I love this course lay-out and the folks are great but condition was lacking again. Fairways were really hard and patchy, as was the rough. Greens were very fuzzy. Have really enjoyed the restoration the past couple of years after Raspberry took it over but based on the conditions on 7/7, getting the sense it may be falling off again. Hope it turns around because it is a great layout and beautiful surroundings.
Great Course view
View of Course is great. And courses gave me various fun , ye! design of hole is very interesting but fairway condition is not to bad? So so? I'm not sure.
A Diamond in the rough
Excellent course conditions, great staff made for a fantastic day of golf. The other players were mostly friendly. We will be playing here again!!
Beautiful course
the course was in great shape, wonderful course to make you hit your shots. It could not have been better day, except pace of play.
Very nice track
A very nice course !!! Comfortable play with some challenging holes. Had a great time!
Nice for the price
The up keeping of this course was very nice even after seeing wild life such as geese walking around. The was very friendly but the other customers were not it seems like they were not used to seeing the person of a different race playing there.
good and improving
fairways and greens in good condition. bunkers had not yet recovered from heavy rains. Wide fairways but scoring requires good short game. Very walkable. No long distances between grens and tees. New scorecards inferior old that showed holes and flag positions. Friendly and welcoming staff. Appreciate ability to walk this upscale course.
Great round, but hot
The course was in good condition considering the extreme heat. We tried to get out early but we just could not beat the heat. Heat index was over 100, but still a great course.
Great course, amazing service, great staff
Everything was amazing at Augustine's. From the time you get to the course they have someone come get your clubs and gets your cart ready for you. To even when you park by the 18th green they come out and clean your clubs for you. My only compliant is some of the putting greens are in less then perfect condition. The are good and better then most but couldn't rate excellent on them. Everything else at Augustine's is excellent!!!!
Fine Course
I hadn't played the course since right after they began renovations with new management a few years ago. They've done wonders with the course, which was a good course prior to then, but not well taken care of. It is now very well maintained, and a great looking course. Challenging but enjoyable for an 18 handicap. Will be taking regular golf buddies there soon to play again!
Very Solid
Great all-around golf courseand it's not ridiculously expensive either. Highly recommended. (also like Mattaponi Springs and Pendleton ,but they are both much further South of Fredericksburg/Stafford.)
Best Course in Area for the money
This is the best course in the area for the money. Mattaponi Springs is also great, but more pricey.
Country Club Feel
Excellent round. From the cart at my car to the balls on the range, a real country-club feel. Course was challenging, but in excellent condition. Would recommend to a friend.
