Augustine Golf Club
About
Carved from Stafford County's rolling, emerald green hills, Augustine Golf Club plays across a scenic landscape abundant with mature pines and hardwoods. The pristine white bunkers and the lush fairways contrast nicely with the trees. The course conveniently sits just 30 miles from the Washington Beltway. In 2011 when the golf course was acquired by Raspberry Golf Management, who are responsible for several courses in the area, Augustine underwent major renovations that increased its playability. The greens, fairways, rough, bunkers, and tee boxes were all redone. The layout offers a challenge but is gentle enough for beginners to approach with confidence. Included in a round of golf at Augustine are range balls and unlimited use of the driving range, which has different targets and a large putting green.

excellent layout
The greens are in excellent condition, but a little slow.
The fairways, Bermuda grass are not in yet and will be much better in a month after some warm weather.
The personnel are great, from the bar to the cart girl and everyone is a pleasure to deal with. The bunkers were in above average condition, they actually have sand in them.
Course is coming around nicely
Absolutely wonderful weather on a Sunday morning, much better than my game was today. We played 18 holes in just over 4 hours, so nothing to complain about there. The greens are recovering quite nicely from the aeration that appeared to be done a few weeks ago. Rolled pretty true, but could have been a bit faster. Within a week or two they will completely heal and be even better and will most likely be rolling faster. The fairways are Bermuda, so with the lack of global warming this year they have not turned over yet, but if we can just get a few warm days in a row they should come around and the place will be back to the golf destination it once was. As always the people at the course were terrific.
Good course with great staff
Course in great shape. New procedure of green aeration was great with no sand slowing down the greens.
Disappointed
I really wanted to rate the course higher, but the fairways look like the course has suffered from extreme draught. Which was not the case with the large amount of snow and spring water. The greens were aerated late this season making putting even more of a challenge. I like this course, it is challenging and joy to play when it is in peak condition. Unfortunately we got behind a really slow group which turned what should have been a four hour round into just over 5. I am afraid they are off my list this year and will give them another show in 2015
Good condition
Staffs are very friendly.
Course condition was much better than last week.
I'll Be Back!
I haven't had a chance to play this course in a long time but I had a good impression from the last time I played. Prior to playing the course I read some of the reviews posted and I was concerned with so many average reviews. This is not what I remembered when I played it the last time.
Well, the course is far from average and in my opinion its the best of the any of the Raspberry Golf Trail courses which I have played all of them. Its not perfect but offers a real challenge and I will be back. The greens where in great shape, offered some challenging puts and rolled well even though the had been aerated early in the week. The reviews of slow greens are hard to agree with. My only negatives I had about the course follow; a short par three of about 100 yards is kind of a joke hole, the score cards don't provide warning on wet marshy areas that cross a couple of the fairways (ask for a yardage book that the marshal kindly provided), bunkers were very shallow and the fairways were still brown but its early in the spring. Sorry folks that all I can complain about. I'll be back several times this summer.
Also, congrats to the staff for being so friendly and managing a beautiful course.
Fast Greens
The fairways were still dormant so the lies were tight. Not much rough to speak of. The greens were slick and rolled great for being aerated.
Nice layout
Due to the snow and rainfall that has occurred if found the course to be in good shape. It was cart path only and the course did have soggy spots on almost every hole. As stated we've had an unusual amount of snow and rain this year.
I love playing this golf course especially since they did some updates. Once everything dries up I'm certain that this course will be in fabulous shape like it was back in the fall. I've found it to be the best course around northern VA for the money. Especially when you can grab a "hot deal" off of golfnow.com! It still is the best course around for the money even at the normal rate.
The staff were friendly and the accommodations were as equal. We stopped at the turn and had a hotdog and some home made chips! The facility was is in great shape and I would recommend this course to everyone that loves a great round of golf. Tim Hayes
Nice course
Gorgeous course. Nice practice facilities. Very friendly and helpful staff. Only thing I didn't like was there was no bathrooms, water, or ball cleaners out on the course.
Augustine in good shape!
Augustine is back at being on of the best courses in Notthern VA
Course was in relatively good shape.
Considering all the recent snow, they kept the course up. Greens somewhat bumpy in places, but overall putts rolled pretty true. Bunkers were well dressed, and very little water on the course. Cart path only was restricted on only 2 holes.
Above average - considering the past weather
Considering the snow, the cold weather , the time of the year and the rain, the course was in good shape. It was cart path only but that was not an issue. The drainage was good and the wet spots were minimized. The greens require some work but again, considering the time of the year, they were not bad.
I would play the course again and would recommend it to friends.
Nice Course
Nice course - friendly staff - free range balls - free course booklet. Doesn't get much better.
The Slowest Greens I've Ever Putted on.....
Being a member of a country club I understand that when I go and play a public course that the greens may not be as pure or in as good of shape as the greens at my home course. With that being said, most of the greens on public courses that I have played have been pretty good. I played yesterday at Augustine and while the greens were bumpy and a bit damaged, that was to be expected because of the winter conditions, I get that. I had read recent reviews about Augustine and people said the greens were slow. I had no idea that they were going to be this slow though. They were the slowest that I have ever putted on and when you combine that with the fact that they were really bumpy and ball marks all over the place, it was a bit too much. Again I understand that this is a public course and all but other public courses in the area have much better greens. I liked the layout of the course very much as it was my first time there but I am not sure that I will be back, especially when the greens are so poor and so slow.
greens was way to slow
the course was in great shape but needs more sand in the traps had fabric showing on alots of the traps. And the greens was super slow
Excellent course for the cost.
Outstanding layout with some challenging holes. A couple of the greens are "relatively" new and not as pristine as the rest. However, they still rolled well.
They are working on it.
The layout is good but the work they are doing made playing a little problem. They have spread sand over most of the fairways and all of the greens, enough so that you need to clean you club after every shot, even between puts. The uneven spread of sand on the greens make a true role and speed on each green and between greens vary greatly. The price was OK for this course but I wouldn't pay even close to their normal price per round. I would recommend this course but only for the discount rate.
The course is in great shape, which made this round of golf a lot of fun.
Enjoyed playing this course, it is in great shape. Greens are a bit slow, but are in great shape. Staff was friendly and helpful.
Solid Course
Solid Course, friendly staff. Not crowed on the Saturday that I played
Golfers should understand Bermuda grass goes dormant in the off season. As a golfer who has lived in florida, texas, and new jersey there are different types of grass. Augustine is a Bermuda grass course which means it is dormant or light tan in the winter. I play the course regularly and it is one of the best in the area when the Bermuda is awake. If you play it in the winter you should know what that. Another course I play is Lansdowne which is zosia grass and does the same thing in the winter. Just not an educated golfer.
